1  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / magazine on: February 07, 2006 02:21:16 PM
Has there ever been any discussion about a craftster magazine?  I know that would be a financially significant issue, but it seems like that could be pretty cool!

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Friendly Hipster/Badass Rebel--- Reversible Clutch! on: August 23, 2005 12:59:10 PM
So I have a birthday party to go to today for a girl who his my boyfriend's best friend's girlfriend.  Whew!  I love her, but needless to say I don't know that much about her.  Of course she said "no gifts" but that's a crappy rule.  So I decided to whip up a clutch, mostly knowing only that she likes pink.  I didn't want to do just a pink bag, though, so I did one side denim, one side hot pink.  Hence, the Renee bag was born!  Smiley

This is my favorite side:

And this is my other favorite side:

Hope she likes it!  Smiley
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My very first adventure in stenciling! on: August 08, 2005 09:55:32 AM
So I have been feeling the urge to stencil for a while, and I finally dove in!  The first shirt is for my boyfriend, modeled beautifully by my little (but bigger than me) brother.  I made the stencil myself, not that it was terribly hard.  Just piano keys (cuz my boy plays).

and some detail

Then I wanted a stenciled shirt, so I took a generic unisex shirt from Michaels that I have since taken in for a nicer fit.  I found the stencil at freewebs.com/stencilcore.  Lots of good stuff there.  My fingers are a little tired, and the tiny little bits took forever to cut out, but I call it worth it!

Thanks for looking, and I apologize for the blurry photos.  The pink one is actually really crisp outlines, but I was too lazy to take anymore photos.  Smiley
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Starry halter! Yay potato stamps! on: June 12, 2005 06:41:20 PM
I made this halter top a while ago but it needed something, so I got out some paint and went to town!  Smiley

7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / genitalia as art? on: May 12, 2005 06:51:23 PM
I am just wondering if anyone else is as mystified by things like a "crocheted vulva" or crotch embroidery as I am.  I just don't get it, and I can't imagine that I'm alone in this.  Please, someone tell me I'm not!

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / home-dyed, hand-beaded: a halter! on: April 10, 2005 04:08:16 PM
Hey, crafty people!  I was sitting around my house on Friday thinking about how badly I wanted a new summer top, so I bought Simplicity pattern #5016 (one of the "It's so easy it's Simplicity" variety.  I grabbed some white cotton (at least I think it is; it may be a bit of a blend) and stitched up the top, which is the first clothing item I've made from "scratch" for something like 6 months.  Then I headed to wal-mart for some RIT, in Golden Yellow and Sunshine Orange.  Dyed yellow first, then orange, dipping it deeper every 7 minutes or so.  I also dyed some extra fabric for the flowers I envisioned on the neck.  Made the flowers at work, beaded them, then attached them to the top!  Total time spent on cute summer halter/wearable art: 7 hours.  Whew!

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / two new patch-worky bags! on: March 24, 2005 06:48:34 AM
Ok, this first one is made after a vintage bag I have which is made out of recycled kimonos.  I love the style, so I wanted to make one like it.  This was one of nikki-shell's presents in the recent 10 things swap!  Check out the gallery!  Good stuff!

Here's another one, but a tote.  Have I mentioned I'm in love with fabric?  Smiley  There are all kinds of good fabrics on this one!  Corduroy, upholstery fab, etc!

Yay bags!  Smiley
