961  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: OTHPT2 Gallery on: March 09, 2011 02:46:48 PM
Holy cow!! I love all the detail that went into it!! Is everything made of polymer? The level of detail in all of the paintings (?) on/in the chest are amazing!!
Yes everything is polymer clay a little wire and or aluminum foil. I painted and glazed the brooms to give them and the trunk a sheen, but let all the balls and bat raw.  I thought it helped lend to the fact that it was once used.  I don't think Ive ever painted something so small.  It was a challenge, but I love it.  Here's a pic I took before I sent it out.

I had a hard time letting it go, but I was lucky enough to have a partner who I knew would love it just as much!

I'm making a grrrrrrr face Angry at those who haven't responded to their partner at least once....(except to anyone who has had some unforeseen an emergency)

The question is....too soon for howlers?  Tongue

Professor Pinkleo, in times like this I always ask myself, "What would Molly Weasley do?"

There is your answer!  Wink
I agree

But I'm pretty sure there already exists a tutorial for it somewhere, forgotten where it was but I have seen it around.

I'm pretty sure I've seen one over at Leaky... it's probably not exactly like this one, but pretty close...
I just looked that howler up and uses wire. Mine is all paper, cardstock, tape, glue, and a little ribbon.   So this weekend I'm gonna try to set up all the templates and explain how I did it.  I'm so excited everyone likes it.  I'd like to do one with a sound button that plays the line from the movie, but I haven't figured that part out yet

It doesn't hang yet.  Right now hes living with all the other HP stuff on top of my fridge.   As for the tutorial, I've never made one before but I will give it a try this weekend and let you guys know how it goes

Oh I love it!! did it take forever to do?
I felt like forever, but it was more like a couple evenings.  The hardest part was getting the shape and then covering it with the red paper.  But I love it and that makes it all worth it.

Nice! Is that a wax seal?
No its polymer clay made to look like a wax seal.  I took the design off the Pink Carnation website and its on the book cover.  That's where the whole idea for the book mark came from. I painted the carnation cause I thought it needed it to help drive home the pink carnation theme.

Ive been crafting quite a few Harry Potter items lately. I saw a howler the other day and thought how cute would that be as a ornament.  So after many trails and errors I got it right and here it is.

I plan to put this one on my HP Christmas tree this winter.
