21  Re: Book Thong *with link to pattern* (photo heavy) in Crochet: Completed Projects by snowflake on: June 19, 2005 05:54:31 PM
Thanks everyone for your comments.

I go the beads from our LYS.  And I think it looks very very chinese!  I was looking for something like those in the book thong link, but couldn't find any.

These are the scrunchies that I bought... This is so exciting!

I was just thinking...  Even if I don't finish them, I can use them to hang on Christmas tree when time comes...  THat makes me not so guilty in buying so many of them

22  Book Thong *with link to pattern* (photo heavy) in Crochet: Completed Projects by snowflake on: June 16, 2005 10:56:44 PM
I couldn't resisit the temptation to jump into the "Book Thong" bandwagon...

Here's the link:
http://www.crochetme.com/Feb_Mar_2005/patt_book_thong.html

Here's my version:

A closeup of it in book...

The beads need to have a bigger hole in the middle.  I went to a few shops but couldn't find those that I wanted.  These are the best that I can find.

These are very addictive and was done in less than an hour.  I just went to those shops selling scrunchies with beads.  Bought a few scrunchies, so I can cut out the beads!  I'm gonna make a dozen to standby as gifts!

23  My 1st proper crochet project in Crochet: Completed Projects by snowflake on: June 15, 2005 12:24:32 AM
I'm a knitter and has just recently learnt the basics of crochet.  Here's my 1st proper project.  I got the japanese scarf pattern from a friend, but decided to change it into a bag.  I though it looked japanese, so I call it the Japanese bag.

It looksk a little flimsy, I think I need to do lining...

24  Stash busting Caterpillar (With Tutorial) in Knitting: Completed Projects by snowflake on: May 04, 2005 06:26:54 PM
I was in a stash busting mood and thought of making some toys out of it, and here it is!  I enjoy doing it and I think I'll make a few more for some kids.

It has got legs too, but I think they are too tiny...

OK, here's the tutorial:
Cast on 14 sts
Row 1: Increase (K1 f&b) into every sts  [now 28 sts]
Row 2 and every even number row: purl
Row 3: *knit 1 st, Increase (k1 f&b) 1 st* [now 42 sts)
Follow stockinette pattern for another 25 rows
Row 29: *k1, k2tog* [now 28 sts]
Row 31: k2tog till end [now 14 sts]
Do not cast off.  Join another color and follow pattern from row 1

For antena and legs, I've followed the pattern exactly from here:

25  A vest for nephew, JS in Knitting: Completed Projects by snowflake on: May 03, 2005 06:29:45 PM
I knitted a little vest during the weekend for our little nephew, JS.  I like the yarn because it looks a bit like fair isle.  Too bad I didn't get to take photo of him wearing it.

This is a Sirdar pattern that I bought in our LYS.

Duck!

I'm going to start a hand puppet zoo.  What else can I turn them to?

I've stuffed tea leaves inside them and intend to leave it in the fridge to absorb the odours.  Ok, I know there's not enough and I need to make a dozens more...

The strawberries were a bit small, so I decided to improvise them into chilli and tomatoes too.  I like the tomatoes best!  What ya think?

30  Ruffles!! (Not from Scarf Style) in Knitting: Completed Projects by snowflake on: April 06, 2005 08:22:43 PM
I saw this thread from http://knittersreview.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=27751 and like the scarf so much.  Couldn't help it but cast on to try it out.  It is indeed a very interesting journey...  We call it Rachel's Ruffles.
