311  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: 1950's Atomic party on: May 19, 2005 04:46:34 PM
make mushroomy food and give them strange atomic names.

Decorate your basement aka atomic shelter with a wall of cans (beware of people leaning on it though  Wink)

You can use the atomic shelter theme for throwing beds instead of couches. Maybe metal bunk beds (that's the name for 2 beds on top of eachother isn't it?).

Gasmasks and 'radiation' suits are some other things I'm thinking of.

I've never seen a tin ceiling, but I suppose it's an american thing? (I live in Holland). But now I've seen one, I want one for myself. The light that it reflects is great. I like the decorated part of it, but you can also go for a very clean and modern look with stainless steel tiles, or copper!!!!. I've seen them, but I've got no clue about their pricetag.....

i know my mom saved a lot of her ols chlothes. It would be neat if you have have people dressed in her old chlothes walking around. My mum is very very small (shes 1.50 m or 5 foot high, so I was like 11 when i could wear her chlothes and 12 when I grew out of them...), so it wouldnt work for her...

Hi Nine, are you from Holland as well? Judging from your pic I meanIm relativity new here, but so far I havent discovered anyone from the Netherlands here

You know whats really handy to have with you in Paris? A map of the subway.
Maybe you can make her a travelling journal too, with some spaces for al the small bits like receipts and tickets etc. A phrasebook would probably be very useful too.
Heres a picture of those infamous french toilets. Ive got one piece of advice for you here: do not go to the bathroom along the highway!!!!!

you can write your text on the hot bag with a stencil or freehand with textilepaint. Or use a big textile marker and just write it on.
And the sewing is quite easy, just try it once...
