1  Cross-stitched screenshot from Pokemon Heartgold in Needlework: Completed Projects by chinastarr on: July 31, 2013 12:32:10 PM

I stitched this 96x96 square (9,216 total stitches) for the charity Child's Play. Over at spritestitch.com, we're going to make many of these squares from different video games into quilts that we will sell. All the proceeds will go to Child's Play. This was a lot of hard work, but it was worth it!

2  Weedle Portrait in Needlework: Completed Projects by chinastarr on: January 19, 2013 09:25:44 PM

I thought it would be funny to make an ornate frame for tiny Weedle, from Pokemon. I used cross stitch for Weedle, satin stitch behind him, blackwork for the border, and then I added gold beads.
This is for the current challenge at Sprite Stitch- "Portraits."

3  Transformers Bumblebee t-shirt in Needlework: Completed Projects by chinastarr on: January 09, 2013 10:40:48 AM

I told my 3 year old that I would stitch anything he wanted onto a t-shirt. What he wanted more than anything was Bumblebee from Transformers.
I used waste canvas, and I've never had such a hard time with it. The stitching part was fine, but removing the threads after was practically impossible. I tried everything. I had to get creative to finally get all the waste threads out.
The pattern isn't mine. I got it here: http://crossmenot.blogspot.com/2009/12/transformers_16.html
Here is a closeup of Bumblebee:

I wanted to show a picture of my son wearing it, but he's too shy. Smiley

4  Super Kitty to the Rescue! in Needlework: Completed Projects by chinastarr on: December 28, 2012 10:33:09 AM

I made this from a pattern I bought on Etsy. It was so ridiculously cute I just couldn't resist. I changed the colors up a little. I stitched it on 18 count.

5  The Red Comet- Char! Char! Char! in Needlework: Completed Projects by chinastarr on: December 26, 2012 10:07:08 PM

I submitted this as my entry for Sprite Stitch's December Challenge:Villians!
I don't know how many people on here are familiar with Mobile Suit Gundam, but Char Aznable is my favorite character. This is him from an arcade game from 1993. To quote hardcoregaming101.net, "Char Aznable is arguably the most iconic anime character in history. He's idolized and quoted in Japan in much the same way people in America idolize and quote Darth Vader. Known as the infamous Red Comet, Char remains Amuro's rival from the One Year War until last Neo Zeon War 14 years later. He believes that Newtypes are the next evolutionary step for mankind, and that they should inherit the universe."
I stitched it on 18 count Aida, based on the sprite that I found. It was actually pretty difficult. I'm happy with the result though.  Smiley

6  Beemo onesie in Needlework: Completed Projects by chinastarr on: November 06, 2012 11:10:17 AM

One of my best friends is about to have her first baby, so I've been stitching her several presents. This is one of them: a onesie with Beemo from Adventure Time embroidered on it. I've already given it to her, and she loves it! Thanks for looking.  Cheesy

7  Embroidered Door to Moria from LOTR in Needlework: Completed Projects by chinastarr on: November 06, 2012 10:45:18 AM

I participated in a mini swap on spritestitch.com in the forums. One of my partner's favorite things is Lord of the Rings, and I've always wanted to stitch the Moria door, so it was a perfect opportunity. The hardest part was stitching the Elvish on the arch, especially the tiny bits. I also found a really pretty frame for it. I don't like the lighting from when I took the photos- the colors don't look right. But I'll include a photo of it framed so that you can get an idea of what the frame looks like. The actual frame is more red, and the stitching is a rich brown (DMC #300.) Pretty much the whole thing is backstitch. Thanks for looking!  Cheesy

Oh, and by the way, here is the image that it's based off of:

8  'Allo! Worm from Labyrinth embroidery in Needlework: Completed Projects by chinastarr on: July 04, 2012 08:53:05 AM

I made this as a swap gift for spritestitch.com in the forums. My swap partner's favorite movie is Labyrinth, and I just had to make this little guy. He is framed in a 9" hoop, to give you an idea of his size. The stitches are all pretty simple, mostly backstitch, brick stitch, and satin stitch.
Thanks for looking! Cheesy
