16  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Portal Test Signs on: September 25, 2011 10:38:28 AM
I've been attempting this project for a few weeks, then my cousin came over who works in a print shop and gave me some pointers. I think it looks a lot better.
I've always been interested in those test signs that appear before each level in portal. They were such a neat idea to let you know whats coming up! I wanted to make some to hang on my wall and paint them on a cavas, but how to get the perfect shape? Well... first I edited the image and printed them on regular paper. The first painting from that came out well, but I couldn't use the stencil again. So I looked up some videos and saw how graffiti artists make their stencils. I found these old plastic resume covers and cut it from that. But the paint would just roll under it. So I got a roller! That helped this a lot. They are still rough around the edges- but! I think that adds to the post-apocolyptic feeling that you get from Portal 2.

I love papercrafts! Wall-E does look hard. Usually its the hands that are the worst. You use a tweezers? they make it easier on those small ones, but can only go small enough!

you can also get models from www.paperkraft.net
