1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Help needed: How to fix this quilt on: March 18, 2012 05:28:02 AM
So I'm notoriously bad at choosing fabric for my quilts, and the current quilt I'm working on has some designs that are really bothering me, so I thought I'd ask for suggestions from more knowledgable types as to what I should do with it.

The actual pattern I'm working off says to lay it out like this:

Now, the pattern closeup looks like this:

So I thought maybe I should lay it out straight so that all of the lines were going horizontal... which looks like this:

So, do you think the goldfish are too much? Should I do the diagonal, the horizontal, or buy new fabric for the large squares?

Thanks!
2  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Help dying a dark red a lighter, more vibrant shade of red on: August 04, 2010 01:30:45 AM
I recently brought this cardigan:

http://www.pumpkinpatch.com.au/flatshot/303144/col/TOMATO/listing/39169/categorypath/girl/urban-angel/big-patch-sale/knitwear/

However, the color on the website is not really that accurate, and its more of a deeper color of red, half way to a maroon. I'd like to work out to get it the vibrant shade of red it is on the website.

The label says its 100% cotton.

I'd just put it on a hot wash and see if I could make the color bleed out a bit, but I'm not sure it would shrink the cardigan =S.

Any ideas would be appreciated~!
3  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / How would you alter skirt pattern for vertical gathering (Belle's ballgown)? on: November 25, 2009 06:15:09 PM
I have purchased a pattern to alter for Belle's ballgown (Butterick b4918).

However, I didn't know how much I should lengthen the skirt panels by in order to gather them vertically. I was wondering if anyone had any experience doing this and could give me some tips/ideas.

Thanks =3
