1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Grape Cluster Earrings on: September 28, 2012 07:29:37 PM
Thank you!
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Felt Flowers! on: September 28, 2012 07:04:25 PM

I turned felt into flowers!  Specifically, I turned felt into flowers with the Denver Craft Ninjas in the basement of (one of) my favorite dive bar(s) while feasting on chocolate and booze.

Good times.

Good group craft, too.  Easy to make, easy to personalize, and rather rewarding.

Rather than decide what my flowers should be then and there, I made small loops on the backside of each one.  I can stick them on hairbands or hairclips or pins that way, depending on my mood.

I blogged these here.

Thanks all!

Summer is on its downhill side, and I don't want to let it go. I made these earrings specifically for hot days and hotter nights.

And lots of fresh, in-season fruit.  That too.

I took all this:

Did a little of this:

Et voila!

I wrote up a tutorial on the ol' blog.  I want to make a green pair now!

I spread it out over a long time, because I have the attention span of a gnat.  I don't think it would have taken more than a few hours done straight.

I pre-cut little holes with an xacto knife, but only because the fabric was stretchy enough to make poking them through by hand obnoxious.  Otherwise no, no special tools.

www.firemountaingems.com  They have a great selection on all sorts of jewelry supplies and great customer service, but I've got to warn you, you have to call them to opt out of their catalog mailing service, and to opt out of their sharing your address with other craft companies. There's no online checkbox sort of option. That's what makes me hesitant to link to them in my blog &etc.

It's obviously not that annoying, because I still buy from them.  And they have tons of colors in the waxed cotton thread!  I bought the 2mm.

More!

Chameleon.

And I did a narwhal for Feeling Stitchy last month, by popular vote.  It was really fun putting the design to a vote- I got all sorts of ideas for future patterns.
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Everything's better with studs. on: July 09, 2012 11:44:51 PM

I had this red blazer, and a couple of bags of pyramid studs.  Obviously, magic was destined to happen.  Lots of poking and bending later, and voila!

Now I've got to figure out what to do with the rest of the studs.  I've got to have some shorts around here somewhere.

I blogged this here.
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Friendship Bracelets, now in Chunky! on: July 09, 2012 11:41:06 PM
Inspired, of course, by the internets, I decided to pick up the childhood art of knotted friendship bracelets.  Only this time, instead of dinky embroidery floss, I busted out this stuff:

Which, in a wonderfully short time (maybe twenty minutes?) came together into this:

They're huge and chunky and wonderful!  I love the look; it's nostalgic, but the size seems to add something a little more... modern? That's not the word I'm looking for.  Something different and fresh, at least.

Now I've got to figure out what patterns to try with the rest of the thread.  What were your favorites?

I blogged this here.
