1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / rowan mercy beret on: September 01, 2005 01:49:52 PM
i knit this beret today Smiley  it is from the rowan ribbontwist collection pattern book.  i used rowan ribbon twist in *rabble* which is a dark brown with gray and tan ribbon twisted around the brown wool (not so apparent from my crappy web cam pictures).  this was my first rowan pattern and i really liked it...it was easy and well written.  there are so many cute patterns in this book...i want to make some of the sweaters but the yarn is sooo expensive but sooo pretty.  this was my first pom pom too Smiley

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / boobholder/minisweater on: March 10, 2005 03:41:19 AM
I finally made a sweater!!  I used glampyre's pattern (http://glampyreknits.tripod.com/glampyrephotos/id62.html) but altered it a bit.  I used much thicker yarn than she did (8st. =4 in. vs. 13 st. = 4 in.) and so I had to decrease the number of rows and increases and such accordingly, plus I made the sleeves less puffy.  I really loved this yarn when I saw it because of the gold flecks in it but now I think that I would have used a thinner yarn for this type of sweater.  I guess these are the things you learn as you knit things.  Oh well.  Here it is.
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Cool knitting pattern website and new book on: January 30, 2005 05:12:16 AM
I was just looking for a way to spend a gift card and came across a new knitting book by Teva Durham that is coming out in March. Heres a link to her website http://www.loop-d-loop.com. She has some pretty cool, modern patterns (not free Smiley).  Anyhow, I went ahead and preorderd it...can't wait to get it...the scarf on the front cover of the book looks cool!!  There is this one pattern-braided neckpiece that I love...must make!!  I like the jacket with buckle too. Just thought I'd share Smiley.  Anyone know of any other cool pattern books or sites out there?

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Another simple hat on: January 15, 2005 09:04:55 AM
I just finished this easy hat (I am a new knitter and these are my first hats) for my mother-in-law.  It looks pretty similar to the one hour hat that was posted earlier here.  Its actually the third one I have made but this time I actually followed the directions Smiley and used two yarns.  The free pattern is here http://www.marthastewart.com/page.jhtml?type=content&id=channel181746&catid=cat356.  Here they are...for the red one I used manos yarn and the brown one I used brown chunky yarn and tan synthetic mohair.
