1  Dead Fish Hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by mymymissmai on: December 29, 2011 10:53:14 AM
One of the brokers I work for just had a baby girl.  Since he and his wife are such a quirky bunch, I made something awesome that they can definitely appreciate.

It's made for a girl.  I should name that fish...I'll just leave the honors for the daddy.  I was told MacKenzie (that's the baby's name) have a huge head like her daddy.  So I said I'll make it to fit up to a 2 year old.  He was like "oh totally, she'll probably wear that in a month."  I met the beautiful baby...she's TINY!  I told him the best thing to do is to have the fish eat her from the bottom up and make it into a bunting thing (whatver they are called).

Here's my co-worker trying on the hat.  It somewhat fits him!!!!

The yarns I've used is:

Pink:  Stitch Nation Washable Ewe in Zinnia
Green: Spud and Chloe Sweater in Grass
Purple: Stitch Nation Alpaca Love in Dusk

I'll post a picture of MacKenzie wearing it when I get a picture!

2  Hi 5 Mittens in Knitting: Completed Projects by mymymissmai on: November 27, 2011 11:12:51 PM
These mittens are super clever.  If you wanna wave hi to your friends, just simply lift your right hand up.

If your friends are awesome, give them a high five!

These are basic mittens and I duplicate stitch in the word "hi" and the number "5"  Real easy and extremely awesome!

3  Spam Musubi and Tuna Sushi in Halloween Costumes by mymymissmai on: November 01, 2011 10:19:57 PM
I didn't know what my kids were going to be for halloween.  I have this thing where I want them to have unique costumes just because I want them to stand out.  Last year I dressed up as a slice of pizza because I like pizza.  Which got me wanting to keep with the "favorite food" category.  I brought my boys to a children book fair and had lunch at a Japanese restaurant and that's when it hit me...I am going to dress them up as sushi!  Well, one is tuna sushi and the other is spam musubi.  I have come to realized that I live in a sheltered world where LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT A SPAM MUSUBI IS.  I'm tell you...you're missing out.

So here's how I made spam musubi:  I used black felt as seaweed and wrapped him around and sewed on velcro so it stays on.  The spam is made with the brick red (I assume that's what grilled spam would look like).  I just made a shape of a sliced spam (hey!  don't make that disgusted look...spam is delicious!) and filled it with polyfiber.  I also had to make white pants from scratch.  Do you guys know how hard it is to find white pants?  I couldn't find white pants for kids, so I made them.

Sushi tuna is actually easier.  Using red flannel fabric that I had leftover, I just made it the same shape as the spam musubi and stuffed it with polyfiber (seriously, I have a bag of polyfiber and it never seems to end.  It feels like it keeps on growing...).  To add the white lines that tuna sushi has, I  used white yarn and placed it on the tuna and sewed it on.  To keep him on, I chained white yarn and made it into backpack straps.  I also had to make his white pants.

The only thing that's not made is the white turtleneck shirts.  And without further ado, here's the pictures!

Side note, I made that beanie tuna sushi was wearing.  The yarn is called zombie bbq.  I just felt it should be worn on halloween Smiley

4  Re: My first (slightly mismatched) pair of socks! in Knitting: Completed Projects by mymymissmai on: May 21, 2011 06:53:17 PM
I made my first pair with the same sock  yarn!  I had problems with the second sock because I want it to match my first (which is kinda hard to do on self striping sock yarn).  Now that it's all done, I don't plan to make another pair of socks until I get that urge again.

5  This slice of pizza reigns supreme! in Halloween Costumes by mymymissmai on: November 02, 2010 01:05:15 PM
Someone said to me "now that costume is so original!"  I replied back "no, I'm supreme!"  LOL.  This costume was so much fun to make and it cost me less than $10 in raw materials.  Did I mention it took only a weekend to make?  To top it all off (hahaa pizza pun), I won best costume at work.

7  Re: I Heart Headbands! Swap in The Swap Gallery by mymymissmai on: September 22, 2010 11:52:29 AM
I have received all my headbands!  Thank you cleanfeelin, rosyposie, shortern, and edenkitty (she gave me two headbands)!  My boy started off smiling in the pictures and as we progress, I think he's starting to realized what I'm doing is embarrassing so he turns into shame.  I think his headband modeling career is over.  Oh wells.  That's why I have TWO boys.  Muwahaahaahaa.

I received from hgddm!!!!

My mom was asking if the zipper was functional.  LOL!  It's a very comfortable headband!  I wore it all evening!  I love headbands that are so comfortable!  And of course...it looks great on my boy too.  LOLOL!  He's starting to say no on wearing headbands.  He's on to me.  I had to bribe him this time.  LOL!

And the next time you head over to Seal Beach and pass by Garden Grove, you should give me a hollar.  LOL.

I received from dulcet!!!

My little boy loves to be my model.  Little does he knows I'm keeping all these pictures for when he grows up.  Probably show them to his potential girlfriends...

I heart pink!  I was dancing like a ballerina in the living room while wearing this!  LOL.

I got my first headband from Nmcakemom07!!!

Out of all the feathers, I love peacock feathers the most!

Here's my model wearing the headband!

He's going to model every headband I get!  Nmcakemom07 also gave me some extra something something.  It's not photographed because my youngest wanted to get his hands on them.
