21  CANADA / British Columbia / Re: Where to sell? (BC and AB) on: March 11, 2005 03:43:51 PM
Well, in Edmonton there are tons of small shops that will consign or buy your jewlery. Try Nokomis, Mars and Venus and Orbit (same owner), and Ruckus on Whyte Avenue. Red Ribbon Gifts, Red Strap Market in the downtown...also The Artworks if your stuff is really professionally made and upscale.

Can anyone think of anything else?

Good Luck!

I'm in!

I was in Vancouver this summer (I'm from Edmonton) and I can picture Water street, and "just off Cordova"...are you in the little triangular building? With all the paper and gards and gifts and whatnot?
23  CANADA / Quebec / Re: Montreal Anyone ? on: March 11, 2005 01:58:12 PM
okay. So i just found out that i get to go work in montreal for the summer (i'm FLIPPING excited!!).

i need all your tidbits on crafty/fun things...good bars to go to, etc! give me a tour of alternative montreal!! are there any good places/opportunities to meet alternative-crafty-designy people that you can think of?

i should say that i've visited before but i've never been able to explore montreal throughly, so i am pretty familiar with it..
eeeeeee! so excited!

no i didn't - have robes and relics, though. that's a good place if you don't feel like digging through TONNES of crap...

edmonton folks should put together a best of...becuase i'm sure there's stuff i missed out on (and i'm a thrift shop queen. no joke!)
25  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Making a Flip Clock?! on: March 09, 2005 12:35:12 PM
okay. I've fallen in love with this clock (called a "cifra 3"):

i want to try and make one as these are 1960s design icon and are worth a whole shitload of cash....so i can't go buy one.
I guess the first step is to see how one can make a flip clock.

any suggestions, anyone? i'm SO in love with this thing!!
-vik

edit: i occurs to me that i could go and buy an old flip clock at a thrift shop and gut it. but i still don't know anything about electronics. does anyone have any pointers on this kind of stuff? i'm handy with a sewing machine, but yeesh - mechanical things? no sirreeee....

yeah, it would be great if under each parent board, there was a board that was just tutorials. completley separate from the completed projects board. it would be the best!
