2  Making a Flip Clock?! in Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions by le vikki on: March 09, 2005 12:35:12 PM
okay. I've fallen in love with this clock (called a "cifra 3"):

i want to try and make one as these are 1960s design icon and are worth a whole shitload of cash....so i can't go buy one.
I guess the first step is to see how one can make a flip clock.

any suggestions, anyone? i'm SO in love with this thing!!
-vik

edit: i occurs to me that i could go and buy an old flip clock at a thrift shop and gut it. but i still don't know anything about electronics. does anyone have any pointers on this kind of stuff? i'm handy with a sewing machine, but yeesh - mechanical things? no sirreeee....

4  thrift store guide! in Discussion and Questions by le vikki on: March 03, 2005 10:47:54 PM
i posted this in the "edmonton" section too, but here goes:

I'm doing a project in my information design class on city guides (ie, maps and information blah blah) on a specific topic (like restaurants, or bars)

so i chose thrift stores! weeee!
i'm making a little guide which i'm thinking i may make into a zine or something, but really, i feel it'll give away all the secret good places. but maybe that's a good thing?!
anyways, here's a spread, what do you guys think? i'm so proud of it!

7  my bathroom needs a paint job. with images! in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by le vikki on: January 23, 2005 12:48:53 PM
Hey all.
I feel like I have the world's ugliest bathroom. I want to paint the walls a light grey/blue/aqua and make the cabinets an electric red-orange, but after that I want to treat the cabinets some way. Like, transfer an image onto them (trees?) somehow.

Any ideas how you could do that in a extra-humid environment?
