Yay! Swap time! So....will my partners please PM me soon, so I can get your address/give you mine? I have to send mine off a little early, cause I will be leaving the country on the 11th. I already have lots of little doodads, but I wanted to throw in some personalized ones too.
Yay, my very first swap! *signs up* I have waaaaaay too many doodads lurking around...now I can get rid of them, and receive different doodads to lurk around!
Ok...I was getting floats on both sides of the knitting, so I started twisting the yarn for every stitch, but now I get different colored purl bumps in my patches of color! I am working in garter stitch on normal needles. What am I doing wrong?
Hmmm...you could try paint pens? I thin I've seen these around Michael's and stuff. And thin sharpies work really well too, though you have to let them dry.
Thanks guys! I am working in garter stitch, indeed. So, just even numbers then, and I'll be good? Cool. So, now I just have to train myself to not lose track of how many rows I've knitted...XD
Okay, I want to make a stripy scarf for my friend's birthday. But my stripes are doing something weird on the other side!
I understand this is probably inevitable, so in order to get all of these "mini stripes" on one side, do I have to do an even number of rows, or odd? I'm not any good at math. I want to make the stripes about an inch wide each, and I'm using number 11 needles. How many rows should I make?
Does anyone happen to have any Lion Brand Fun Fur eyelash yarn, in 113 red, dye lot 1047? It's probably a long shot, but if anyone had any, I'd be willing to pay more than it's worth, I need it to finish my scarf. I checked Ebay, but no one has any listed. I bought this yarn ages ago at a Michael's, so I dunno if anyone had any. I bought it in Maryland? I really wanted my first scarf to be long enough.
Ok. Here's what my friend does to solve the knitting needle problem when flying in the UK. She just buys wooden dowelling, which comes in a variety of thicknesses and lengths. She can get through security with a few lengths of this in her bag, I mean, it's blunt, and it's wood, right? Also, you know how you put your wallet, etc, in a plastic bin when you go through the scanner? She keeps a pair of sewing scissors and a pencil sharpener in there to sharpen the dowelling with, and when you get on the plane, Bob's your uncle, sharpen up your disposable knitting needles and get knitting! You can keep unfinished projects on unsharpened dowelling, too. When leaving the plane, she transfers the knitting project to unsharpened dowelling, and throws the sharpened dowels in the bin on the way off the plane. She says it's worked for her so far, and she's flown about 7 UK to US flights. And she adds, it gives her a cool feeling of subterfuge, and makes her want to hum the mission impossible theme under her breath.
Thanks guys! I was wondering why my stitches were so tight, even though i cast them on and knitted them quite loosely...well, something to remember for next time, huh?
