1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I need help with a Pixie Hat please and thank you! on: January 03, 2006 12:10:10 AM
I'm having problems.. I've been knitting baby hats but I want to do one with a little pixie point on the top.. something like this..

I get how to knit the body.. but I'm unsure of the math on the decreases??!!

On the usual baby hats I do (plain rounded tops)
I have 72 stiches then I decrease down like
K6, k2tog (repeat till row is finished)
K5, k2tog (repeat till row is finished)
ect down to
K2tog then tie off remaining stitches..

So.. I'm wondering what do I do for decreases so that it's a cute little point?
Anybody that can let me know is my favorite person in the world because my cute little pixie hat is sitting here just waiting for a point!

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Goth/Gothic Swap mmm.. black.. on: October 23, 2005 08:00:31 PM
I've been in alot of swaps on here with some gothic themes (Subculture swap, skull swap, pirate swap ect) but I have yet to see a full on Goth/Gothic swap!

There's a huge dark child following here on craftster and I think it'd go over really well.
I'm thinking clothing (recons and homemade) purses, shoes, cds, wicked knitting/crocheting, jewerly, make-up, books, movie themes, stuffed monsters, death dolls, vampire stuff.. ect.
God knows theres a zillion different ways to go with this idea..

Anyways, I'm bloody stoked about the idea, it'd be a fairly big signup questionaire such as:

Favorite goth movie:
Favorite goth band:
Favorite goth writer:
Favorite goth actor:

Stuff along that lines, you might end up with like a wrist cuff of your favorite band, a t-shirt with your favorite goth quote and like skully barrettes or something.

Regardless, halloweens put me in a spooky deviant mood as usual and I think there's a smegload of crafters that can show off their great goth crafting skills..

Who's with me?
5  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Can you Koolaid Dye Mohair Yarn? on: May 09, 2005 02:01:01 PM
Ok I'm really really new to knitting but apprently I just got a smoakin' good deal. I picked up 5 balls of cute and fuzzy mohair yarn for $2 (same dye lot, and brand) unfortunatly they are white. Like SNOW white, white.

So, I've read all the 15 pages or so on koolaid dying, and seen a few things that seem to be mohair and Koolaid dyed on here (I love craftster) but could somebody that's actually koolaid dyed some mohair  give me some pointers? Please!
It's so fine and fuzzy,  I just don't want to wreak it even it if was dirt cheap  Huh

Thanks Smiley

Details of swap: This is my first time organizing a swap (although I've been in many so far!) so I'll be sticking to an one item one partner swap for this one.  You'll be designing/reconstructing a mini tin, such as an Altoids tin, cigarette tin, card box tin, ect. for your partner, and they will be making something as creative and wonderful for you Smiley
Project should be made using a small tin, no more than 6"x6" (no cookie tins please!), and have a lid or some form of covering.
I've seen so many fantastic decorated Altoids and Mint tin boxes on Craftster, things like purses, survival kits, hygiene product holders, condom boxes, personal shrines, make up cases... If you need any ideas just punch in 'Altoid tin' in the Craftster search engine or do a google on Altoid Tin projects.
This should be a fun, easy and cheap to mail Swap and I'm looking forward to seeing all the wild and creative stuff you crafty boys and girls come up with Smiley

You must be willing to comply by the following rules to participate:

Ship out ON or BEFORE due date
PM me with delivery confirmation number
Acknowledge that you recieved your item
Thank your partner (As you'd want them to thank you too!)

9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / So THEN I thought I was all rockstar bad@ss... (image heavy) on: April 08, 2005 11:35:34 PM
I've been in so many swaps lately I woke up last weekend and thought 'wow I haven't made myself anything in forever' so I dug around in my stencils file and found one I've been meaning to do. It's loosely based on Brody from the Distillers, and hey. .what more fun can you have with girls with mohawks..
So anyways, I grabbed my black Old Navy hoodie that was starting to get those little fuzzies, and decided it needed a facelift..

This stencil was the hugest pain in the butt to cut out, but only took me about half a hour while watching a movie..

I love metallic acrylic paints so I added a few little metallic pink areas

Then I decided it needed a little bit more so the next day I added 3 little stars to one of the pockets (I'm not really that white I highlighted the pic to show the pocket) and one to the hood..

I like this stencil but if I make it again I think I'll put it on something that's a light color and do it in a metallic black or other dark color Smiley

10  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Super Yummy Smelling Soaps on: March 28, 2005 02:50:46 PM
My husband and I try and make different kinds of crafts for all our friends for christmas every year. Two years we made cookies-in-a-jar and last year I talked him into helping me make soaps for everybody Smiley
It was my first time trying out Melt and Pour soap and I decided I didn't want to go with the usual floral or fruity scents.  We went with Bakery scents, I bought:

Gingerbread, Chocolate Cake, Glazed Doughnut, Cinnamon Crunch, and  Baked Apple Pie... Mmmmmm (and I just bought a Blueberry Cheesecake scent this week!)

So these are the soaps we ended up making, I used a massage bar mold, and plain bar mold that said 'homemade' and a floral bar mold Smiley The tags were real fun to make up too, I packaged them in a small ziplock with a tag for each scent.

We then decided to make up some Bubblebath/Body Wash/Shower Gel with some of the left over scents, unscented liquid handsoap, and a little soap color (they turn out a lot like the Philosphy stuff)

So yeah, a little late for Xmas posting but still..  Wink
