That's $1 Target Fun Fur yarn, for those of you playing at home.

I'm not usually much of a girly pink person, but I liked the juxtaposition of the word "Nerd" with that look.  And now I feel the need to find a pearly necklace to wear with it.... Anyway, thanks for the idea, geek-pride.

That.. just kicks ass.. I love that Smiley

HOleyyyyyyyy smokes.. I sent out my package to Loobylashes in early December and it just got there today.. my.. goodness.. that's INSANE!!

We both sent each other a PLETHORA of great stuff.. some made.. some not.. and like.. candy too (She's in the UK and I'm in Canada so it became like a multi cultural swap too)

Any ways... like a true dork I didn't recharge my camera batteries and only got pictures of a few things before I sent it all off smooshed into a shoe box.. Here's what I DO have pics of that I sent..

Blueberry cheesecake scented "Nerd" soap...

Gingerbread scented "Geek Soap"

I hacked up a geektastic record sleeve and sized it down to make a little cd case.. It's a cd with all Canadian Rock/Alternative bands..

'Louise' keyboard fridge magnets..

Some rockabilly style cherry earrings

I mod'ed a tote with her favorite book cover and a quote and made her some fun jammie bottoms too but I didn't get pics.. She's awesome and said she'll post the rest of the pics soon.

Thanks!

shotgun_bettie where on earth did you get sparkly knitting needles??  O_O
I'm practically drooling at the thought!

Walmart of all places.. They're $2.98 (Canadian).. I bought 2 nice sets of Susan Bates dpns but then I seen these and had to have them.. They're plastic but fairly flexible plastic.. and they're a little bit grippy so they work well even with cheap acrylic and mohair!
For dirt cheap needles they're sure fun to work with SmileySmiley

I bought them in size 7, and 8, they also make straight needles in all sizes!

5  I need help with a Pixie Hat please and thank you! in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by Shotgun_Bettie on: January 03, 2006 12:10:10 AM
I'm having problems.. I've been knitting baby hats but I want to do one with a little pixie point on the top.. something like this..

I get how to knit the body.. but I'm unsure of the math on the decreases??!!

On the usual baby hats I do (plain rounded tops)
I have 72 stiches then I decrease down like
K6, k2tog (repeat till row is finished)
K5, k2tog (repeat till row is finished)
ect down to
K2tog then tie off remaining stitches..

So.. I'm wondering what do I do for decreases so that it's a cute little point?
Anybody that can let me know is my favorite person in the world because my cute little pixie hat is sitting here just waiting for a point!

Ok I'm going to go a little pic nutty because I'm in love with the journal that Loobylashes sent me.. (it's the coolest thing EVER) .. that and she and I went a little 'bugshit' with sending as we've been talking on MSN and since she's from the UK and I'm from Canada we thought we'd include some local stuff for each other.. In other words we both paid a fortune for shipping and sent tons of stuff!
Anyways.. check out my Geek treasure...

Box fulla loot before I mauled it to death (She gift wrapped it all and hand wrote on it!)

Cookie Monster Tote she knitted and hand lined (I know! envy me) and a really cool altoids tin she hand painted to look like Hedwig from Harry Potter.. it's gorgeous.. insides a Griffindor color necklace.. I'm currently wearing it so no pic..

Knitted pouch (it has sparkly thread and beads!), fuzzy sheepy zippered pouch that's softly lined (I <3 Sheeps), super cool 1" knitting pin, My very own magic the gathering card.. and British candy..mmm yum!
Unfortunatly the great work Looby did got killed by the postal service on my Magic The Gathering card (grrr.. cold weather)

Kick ass R2D2 cushion cover.. it's silky soft.. And it just rocks because my couch is red and my living room is black. .so it's perfect! My husband thinks it's his..

Assorted pack of awesome little crafty bits.. I love the stamps..

And I got a great card.. but my very favorite thing is the journal that Looby hand made me.. it made me all sniffly because it's just so damn cool.. it's called 'Loobys Guide to All Great things from Britain'..
I've only take pics of a few pages but it's amazing..

She included a British Mixed cd for me.. it's really good

A page on crochet including a hook (I only knit so far) and a cool pic of Looby when she was five.. I giggled

And my very favorite page is the one where Looby made me a shrinky dink Hedwig the owl, golden snitch and Griffindor scarf, AND she wrote me a little acceptance letter to Hogwarts.. Like I said.. amazing..

I'm so freakin happy with all my stuff I'm in geek heaven.. Thanks again Louise.. I know i rambled you a thank you letter but you truely made my week.. all my stuff is AMAZING..

7  Re: Unconditional Swapper Swap - NOVEMBER in The Swap Gallery by Shotgun_Bettie on: November 18, 2005 04:33:22 PM
Ok I got all my mail today and I about freaked right out from happiness. (well that and caffiene but yeah mostly happiness)

I didn't even know that I had not ONE but TWO people pick me for the swap. So I got two total surprises in the mail today!!

First I got my second wish, some just down right cool mini pins from sweetiepiepress
My scanner kinda did a crap job of expressing their awesomeness but here they are!

I especially love the tongue one and the cherries Smiley Thanks so much Becky your stuff is amazing.

Next, I got a massive box of yarn. Not just a box of yarn, but a 5lb box of yarn.  Shocked Shocked This was my first wish, for brite yarns in all colors. (I love the 70's yarns!)
kittykill you are the coolest person walking, seriously. *nodnod* [edited because I found out who sent me the box!]

I'm in love with the deep deep 70's plum color and the shiney green and I freaked out with happiness to have more course mustard yellow yarn for making Jayne Cobb hats.
You are so my hero!

Thanks so much!

8  Re: Geek Pride Swap! (Sign-ups Nov. 04 - Nov. 10) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Shotgun_Bettie on: November 09, 2005 05:05:10 PM
Oooh, deciding... deciding.... on the downside, only sporadic internet access until January... on the upside, I just made some brooches and magnets from an old computer keyboard.

(Details and photos at my blog entry, here.)

Thinking... thinking...

Ok the nerd in me is in lust with those pins!

10  Re: Clay horns in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Shotgun_Bettie on: October 27, 2005 09:33:22 PM

Bad scan of mine, I decided I wanted more twisted Pan type horns. I only had yellow and a tiny bit of black Sculpy but I really not keen on the colors.

I think I'll paint them tonight and see how I like them tomorrow.. Smiley
