1  Washington / Washington: West / Washington Craft buddy/Penpal on: November 10, 2010 09:02:12 PM
Hello Washington Craftsters!

I currently live in Texas and I'm wondering if there is anyone interested in a penpal/swap buddy? Why Washington? My boyfriend's family is from Washington and we visit there at least one a year and will eventually be settling down there and so I thought it might be neat to have a buddy from there I could send letters to, swap with occasionally and meet up with whenever I'm there. His family lives in Tumwater, so anyone around that area would be great! Thanks for your time!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Baby Blanket, Tiny Owls and a Cowl on: December 04, 2009 09:00:11 PM
I learned how to knit a few months ago and have finally finished my first big project, a baby blanket for my friend...well...for her baby. I completed a couple of smaller projects before finishing up the blanket, but I didn't want to upload any pictures until I was done. So here they are.

Since i'm a complete noob, I did this the hard way. Garter stitched a bunch of squares, crocheted them together and the crocheted a border around the whole thing. I think there is probably a better method.  Undecided I think it turned out okay. It's nothing fancy.

In my first break from the blanket I decided to use some scrap yarn and try out a little owl pattern. Sorry for the blurry picture, I just couldn't get a good shot of these guys.

I'm taking a trip to Washington state for Christmas and I always find my neck to be really chilly so I decided to knit myself a cowl. I found a really nice pattern on ravelry and voila. I goofed in a couple places, but this was really fun to make. It was my first time knitting in the round and magic loop knitting.

I'm really having fun with this hobby and with this site as well. Thanks for looking!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting for charity on: November 21, 2009 09:21:15 PM
I was wondering...how many people here knit for charity and which one(s) do you knit for?

I was looking into it and it's definitely something I want to do but it's hard to narrow it down.
