1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Denim Sampler Quilt on: April 29, 2012 03:52:50 PM
My brother had loads of jeans that he never wore anymore so I decided to make him a denim sampler quilt.

The quilt covers his double bed with a bit of overhang on each side and the end.

I apologise for the creased quilt, I gave the quilt to my brother about a month ago and forgot to take pictures of it beforehand.  To take these pictures today I had to retrieve it from a crumpled ball on the floor  Undecided (he promises he likes it ... but actions speak louder than words)
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Bright Crochet Sampler Afghan on: February 27, 2012 04:41:34 AM
This is a blanket I made for my brothers girlfriend.  It has 54 different crochet squares in pink, lilac, yellow and green.
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / little girls dress on: October 26, 2011 05:09:07 AM
This was my first attempt at crocheting something that wasn't a granny square.  It is for a friend's daughter using the same pattern as my mum used to make me a dress when I was little.

I dont want to make another bobble ever again!
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Flower Fairy Quilt on: September 02, 2011 05:29:31 AM
My mum absolutely loves flower fairies so I decided to make her a quilt of them.  I actually completed this in time for her birthday in February 2010 but only just remembered that I should post it!

This was my first quilt I made and it was done by hand (all the stitching and quilting) as I didnt have a sewing machine at the time.

The fabric is by Michael Miller.

Here are some close up shots

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Granny Square Afghans on: September 02, 2011 05:23:57 AM
I made an afghan earlier this year using 70 (10 rows of 7 squares) different squares in pink, grey and white.

My brother then decided he wanted one, so I made one in blue, brown, cream and navy

Then his girlfriend decided that she wanted one, so I have only just started on this with pink, yellow, lilac and mint.

I am also working on a afghan for my mum in white, pink, yellow and mint, but I have only made 1 square so far!

All the squares are 6" and made with DK wool and a 5mm hook.

Thanks for looking
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Binding for a denim quilt? on: September 15, 2010 10:01:49 AM
I am in the process of making a denim quilt.  6" squares of 5 different colours.

I dont know what material to use as the binding.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

The quilt will be used as a lap quilt this winter and I think denim might be too hard/rough.  I am also having real trouble finding flannel/brushed cotton that is not in a child/baby print.

Any ideas will be much appreciated.

Thanks
Claire
7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Singer 413 - only working in reverse!! on: March 18, 2010 08:30:12 AM
Hi,

I have a Singer 413 that I dragged out of my Mums attic.  The machine is working lovely...but only in reverse!  The big round stitch size button should be pushed in/out to change the direction, but isn't working.

Does anyone know if this is something that can be fixed easily?

All sewing machine repair people want about 60 (which includes a service), which I dont want to pay because it is working and I would rather spend that money on fabric   Tongue

Thanks for any help

Claire
