Okay- Leah's book inspired me! Have we told you lately that you rock our socks, Leah??
I have been trolling around the internet and my adoration for macrame owls, plastic canvas tissue boxes, painted wooden purses, and the rest of the "kitsch" gang just keeps growing! I really want to organize this swap and was thinking of having sign-ups start in about a week. And to give ample time for our kitsch creations, I would have mail-outs after the Julyl 4th holiday! Post if you are interested!
Hey!! 16 Jan 06 is a holiday for a lot of us! Anyone interested in getting together at IHOP/the bookstore/a random field to meet and work on some small projects? We could even meet in the mall food court! I just thought it would be fun to get together. PM me if you think this might be a go so we can figure out times! grasshopper
Being the nice girl that I am, I made brownies-in-a-jar for some of my co-workers. I'm thinking it's a nice gesture but apparently one of the guys I made one for thought it was a "gesture"- if you get my drift. Ever since then, he has made weird sexual comments and then calls me at home just to chat. First off, he is married. I am not a homewrecker and want nothing to do with him. Second, and this may be the most shallow thing you have heard in a while, he is not attractive AT ALL. But that still married thing trumps anything else!
So my rambiling all of this is to ask: Has anyone else ever had a homemade gift totally backfire in this manner? And if anyone has any tips as to how to avoid this in the future OR how to get this gross-o to leave me alone, I would certainly welcome them.
I learned to knit on Saturday and Hobby Lobby started a sale on Monday!! WOOHOO!! I went an got a pair of 11 U.S. bamboo and 10 U.S. aluminum. What other kinds do I need? I kinda want to get a basic supply while they are on sale. Oh, and I saw some rosewood ones- expensive but pretty. Should I get some of those? Please help! Thank you!!
I am trying to make a mix CD. Last night on a rerun of "Will and Grace" where Will and Michael Douglas are in a club trying to thwart a gay laptop theivery ring, a song came on and Jack proceeded to sing it. Part of it goes "Lovin' you is easier 'cause you're beautiful" or something close to that. Jack sings the "La la la la" part of the song with the lady that sings. Anyway, if any of this made sense, I would like to know the name of the song! Artist, maybe?! I tried a search on the 'net with no luck! Thank you for helping this clueless Craftster!!
Okay, so Shotgun Bettie and the rest of the Altoid/Mini Tin Swap gang has me all inspired!! ithnkuno posted a most excellent tutorial that I have been following religiously for my new obsession of covering mini tins in polymer clay. My question is: What other candy can I get besides Altoids that come in nifty varieties? I have a couple of rectangle ones and a couple round ones but a I wanted some different shapes and sizes! Any help you fine Craftsters could give me would be most welcome!! Thanks!!
For me, it is usually because my crap-er-ific job stresses me out so much that I craft instead of poking random people on the sidewalk in the eye! For instance, today, I found one of our "You did great!" employee morale booster cards on my desk. Thinking "Oh, cool, somebody noticed me working my ass off" I opened it. Inside, it said "Thanks for being the biggest snitch, from ALL STAFF" What a love note!! Maybe if people here would do their job, I wouldn't have to report what they did. (FYI- part of my work is in internal affairs). I think this is going to be one craft-filled evening!
Now that I bitched, let me say, that I also craft because I like giving stuff that I actually made with me own little hands. It is also waaay cheaper (sometimes) for me to make some of the jewelry I like!
Thanks for listening!! Please add to the list of reasons to craft!!!!!!

I just had to share one of my successes with fellow crafty folks. I work at a juvenile detention facility and am always looking for stuff to do with the kids. Wellllll, yesterday I decided to teach a couple of the girls how to sew. We started with a simple tote bag. They hand-stitched everything! Oh and they were so excited to show the other kids what they made. (Remember, these are teenage girls that are used to being out on the streets doing who knows what) Anyway, the girls (and me, the proud mama hen) were just beaming at the end of our 2 1/2 lesson yesterday. Okay, I blathered on long enough. I just wanted to share some of my warm fuzzies!
