1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Fusible interfacing that shrinks on: May 11, 2010 06:08:44 PM
I've been doing something different with the interfacing that has pretty much eliminated the shrinking.

I have been ironing it just enough to make it adhere to the fabric.  I have stopped using excessive steam and heat.  I iron it on quickly without holding the iron on the fabric for more than a few seconds.  That has helped me.

Thanks for the tips.  I'll try spraying it first and readjusting.

soorawn~I had thought of buying better interfacing, but the only brand I have ever seen here is Pellon.

Is there a way to pre-shrink fusible interfacing?  Or better still, is there a brand of fusible interfacing that doesn't shrink?

I have been having a problem with my fabric bubbling and puckering after ironing on the fusible interfacing with my steam iron.

Does anyone have any suggestions for avoiding this?

I spend loads of time choosing fabrics for projects, too, so I'm not surprised that you "agonize" over the decisions for these bags.  You are very talented at choosing fabrics and at designing and sewing.

Those are awesome!  My favorite is the black with bright shapes design.  I can't wait to try my hand at making a wallet.  As soon as all of my Christmas sewing is done, I'm going to make myself a wallet.

The bags are beautiful!  I think my fav is the one with the kite, too.  Smiley

The applique makes a simple bag extra-ordinary!  I'll be the recipients will love them!

How long does is take you to complete one of the appliqued bags?

Love your bag!  You chose beautiful fabrics!

I just bought this pattern at my local quilt shop but have not tried it yet.  Now I can't wait to give it a go.
