We will be swapping items which are crafted to the meaning of your prefered name, you can choose to use your first, middle or surname, as long as you are happy to recieve crafts based upon that meaning. We are going to be crafting 1 large item (which is discussed in the new swap ideas, this is not just based upon actual size. If you were to spend alot of time making something small, then talk to your partner and it will be fine) and 2 or more small / medium items

Everyone's name "means" something right? so how about you craft things to what your partners name means

for example, my name: Susan, meaning lily

maybe a bag with a lily stencilled, beaded or embroided.  maybe make something with matrial that has lilies on it

Rachel: means ewe, their partner could make a sheep based craft.

i dont know if there will be much interest, but thought that i may as well post it.

CRAFTALONG
International Left handers day is August the 13th, this year we are going to show our pride in our left handedness by crafting goods relating to left handers. You could craft to your partners favourite left handed famous person, using quotes about left handers, or maybe just include a left hand on each piece of crafty goodness. As long as the craft somehow relates to left hands so we can show our pride on august the 13th!!

I have worked in an op shop for one and a half years now, but last week they decided to shut the shop that i work at to make another shop "bigger and better" (which doesn't make sense, but lets not get into that)

anyways, seen as i am a volunteer, they have asked me to volunteer at this wondershop, however she was a full time worker and today i found out that she has now been made redundant.

I really like her, and i am going to miss her alot. I want to give her a present but i have no idea what. I know she likes accessoires so i was going to make a necklace or bracelet for her, but i wanted to make something more personal.

Today i have two weeks before the last day that i will see her, if anyone has any suggestions, please help me, i would really like to give her something.

Some details: she is 25, married and her favourite colour is turquoise, she (as i said) loves accessories and she has two birds

I know that there are plenty of lefties on craftster and i think that with international left handers day coming up (august 13th) we should do something to celebrate.

Maybe have the swap items all themed with something to do with left handers, for eg something with left handers quotes on it. Or items themed to your partners fav left hander

even just something with a left hand on it.

IT was two of my friends birthdays on the same day, and i couldn't leave them with only one cake to share, so i made two heart shaped cakes, one is caramel mud cake and the other cherry ripe mud cake. the cupcakes are left over of the caramel mixture.



Here is a blueverry swirl cheesecake i made. Im not really a fan of cheesecakes, but this was definatley an exception!




Here is the recipe for the cheesecake:

220g (71/2 oz) fresh or frozen blueberries
1/4 cup of caster (superfine) sugar
base
85g (2 1/2 oz) shortbread biscuits
1/2 cup almond meal
45g (1 1/2 oz) butter, melted
filling
600g (20 oz) cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup sour cream
2 eggs
1 cup caster (superfine) sugar
1 t vannila extract

Method.
Process blueberries in a food processor and press through a sieve (you should have 1/2 Cup (4fl oz) puree). Place the puree and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Rapidly simmer for 8 minutes or until thick. set aside to cool

To make base, process the biscuits in a food processor until crushed. Add the almond meal and the butter and process until combined. Grease a 22cm (9") springform tin and line the base with non-stick backing paper. Press the crumb mixture over the base and refridgerate.

Preheat oven to 140'C (280'F). To make filling, process the cream cheese in food processor until smooth. Add the sour cream, eggs, sugar and vanilla essence and process until combined and smooth. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the base. Drizzle the blueberry mixture over and swirl lightly with a knife. Bake for one hour or until set. refriderate and serve cold. Served 10 - 12 people.
