1  Sylvanian Families/Calico Critters swap? in New Swap Theme Ideas by IzzyBee on: April 13, 2014 12:25:40 PM

Would anyone be interested in a Sylvanian Families/Calico Critters swap? I collect them, and love making tiny little things for them so thought it would be fun to swap some of these with other people.

Clothes, customised furniture, accessories, even customised figures if anyone is feeling ambitious! There are lots of possibilities Smiley

I would be happy to be the organiser, but this would be my first time organising so if anyone would be willing to co-organise with me that would be much appreciated Smiley

I always struggle deciding how many pictures to post as I'm going through this swap - I don't always manage to do one "interesting" thing each week, so don't want to post all my photos and spoil the surprise for my partner when they receive the scrapbook.

I do, however, have a bit of a backlog of photos to post at the moment - I was in London staying with family for the holidays and forgot to take the memory card reader for my camera with me, so have only just been able to upload the pictures onto my computer!

Here's a little bit of what Bean and I have been up to recently...

We celebrated Christmas, and Bean became a guest star in our knitted nativity scene Tongue

Last week we had a day out in London, visiting the Sylvanian Families shop (where I've been wanting to go since I was very little) and the V&A Museum of Childhood, then we saw some famous London landmarks (Trafalgar Square, Buckingham palace, Big Ben and the London Eye)

Big Ben

Today we had a quick visit to the beach, then did the Alice in Wonderland wooden sculpture trail around my town. I'd wanted to take Bean along the pier, but it was closed Sad. We'll have to try again another day!

Bean and I have had quite a busy week!

We went shopping for Christmas decorations...

Found an igloo in a town called Betws y Coed, and stopped for lunch by the river...

Drove back from Betws y Coed through Snowdonia National Park. I couldn't really look because I was driving, but Bean tells me the landscape was very beautiful.

Then when we got back we picked up my housemate and went to the Dutch Pancake House for lunch. They have otters and capybara there, which we had wanted to go and see, but it was raining heavily and the wind was really strong so we had to give it a miss. I'm sure we'll go again though before Bean goes home!

These are slightly later than planned, my internet connection has been soooooo slooooowwww for the past few days that it's been impossible to get anything done.

On Saturday we had a bit of good weather (cold, but the sun was out and it wasn't raining!) so my boyfriend and I went out for a nice long walk, and Bean braved the cold and came along with us. I need to make her a scarf and coat I think, coming from Australia she's not used to temperatures this cold!

We walked about 8.5 miles (just under 14km) I think, leaving from the lovely town of Llangollen. We walked up past the ruins of an old abbey, past some amazing limestone cliffs, then back down into the valley before going up a HUGE hill to the ruins of a castle.

The ruins of the abbey, called Valle Crucis. You can also just about see some really cool camping pods at the bottom of the photo. I really want to go and stay in one!

After a quiet week, most of which was spent at home crafting due to it raining lots every day, Bean and I managed to go out somewhere! We went to Conwy Castle, which is about 20 minutes walk from my house.

6  Re: Little Visitor Swap Round 18 (SU: 10/20-10/25; SO 10/29, and 3/1/14) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by IzzyBee on: October 22, 2013 03:51:18 AM
Yay I've been accepted! Cheesy

Here is my LV who I will be sending in this swap. Her name is Poppy Dappledawn and she is quite tiny (only 3 inches tall from the top of her ears to her feet). In the last round I took part in she went to Houston, Texas, so we are both very excited to find out where she will be going this time!

Po arrived today from the UK! Smiley Izzybee spoiled me quite lavishly.

Here is a picture of everything right out of the box.

Here is what was inside the fabric.

I love everything! Thank you thank you Izzybee! I especially love the beaded panda! Its so delicate I am not sure what I am going to do with it yet.  Grin

I'm so glad Po made it home safely, and I'm pleased that you like everything. Thanks again for being a great swap partner Cheesy

Poppy is home!

She got to meet Po just before he left...

All the goodies she brought back with her (minus some sweets which had already been scoffed in the car before I was able to take photographs  Roll Eyes ). I love the wire-wrapped shell pendant, it's beautiful!

Poppy also brought back a little friend with her, who I'm still yet to decide on a name for, but she's adorable.

And here are some pictures from the lovely scrapbook...

Thank you ale0059 for being a great partner and for taking such good care of Poppy Cheesy

Apologies for the rubbish photo, I wanted to upload one before I leave for a weekend away so I had to use my phone instead of my proper camera. It's snowing!! This is exciting as it doesn't snow in this part of the country very often, and I doubt Po gets snow back home in Texas!

I'm supposed to be spending the weekend in Cornwall (South West England) so I'm really hoping there's not enough snow that they'll cancel the trains :\

Monday was Guy Fawkes Night (or Bonfire Night or Fireworks Night... it gets called a lot of different things), but unfortunately I wasn't able to take Po to any fireworks displays as I was working at the 2 I went to. We did however have some fun playing with sparklers in the garden at home...

(I tried to spell "Po" by writing with my sparkler, but it was really hard to take the photos with one hand while trying not to burn myself with the sparkler I was holding in the other hand!)

On Tuesday we went to Kingston-upon-Thames, where Po saw a sculpture of telephone boxes falling over in a domino effect

We also tried bubble tea (green apple flavour tea with lychee flavour bubbles, it was really tasty despite being a very bright shade of green!)

And we bought some biltong from the market.
