1  art bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by MegPrice on: June 29, 2010 09:08:48 AM
Here is a monster art bag I just finished.

I was inspired by a bag craftster sadsilver made
Here is her original post:

I'm really excited about the finished bag. It was such a fun project to do. My husband helped out with the design for the monster face. Afterwards he was like.. I want a job where I can just draw monsters  Cheesy
The bag is in the mail on it's way now to my niece for her birthday. She is turning 3.

2  Re: Pet friendly non toxic paint for plastic surface? in Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions by MegPrice on: June 15, 2010 09:27:33 AM
Thanks  Cheesy

They said that any of the paints they carry would be ok, and suggested I let it air out for a couple days before I give it to the kitties to be on the safe side. All of the paints they sell are zero voc which is really great. There is one brand I think I am going to go with called "Ivy Coatings" (it is an acrylic paint).

Ivy Coatings is made locally (in Brooklyn), so that was a plus for me. I couldn't decide on a color when I was in the store, so I am going to go back with samples of the fabric I am using to help decide what color.

I am really excited about this project and will post photos when I complete it. Hopefully this weekend. I know the kitties are probably anxious too!

3  Pet friendly non toxic paint for plastic surface? in Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions by MegPrice on: June 07, 2010 10:50:00 AM
My current  project is making cat beds for our two kitties. (We had to throw out their old beds since our cat Noah got sick on both of the beds).
For the new cat beds I took apart an old hard shelled suitcase.

The suitcase is bright pink (which I think is great) however it clashes with the fabric I am using for the bed part so I am looking to paint it. Can anyone recommend a non toxic paint that I could use to paint the plastic hard shell of the suitcase (a paint with no vocs)? There is a store called Green Depot (www.greendepot.com) near us that carries some non toxic paints. I am planning to stop in and check out to see if they had a good paint to use. I wanted to check here first to see if anyone has a paint they have used for their pets you like?

Here are 2 pics of the beds in progress. I still have to finish sewing(and fitting) the cover and a few other things. I'll post pics when they are done.

4  sewing machine cover in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by MegPrice on: February 09, 2010 07:50:36 AM

Just finished my sewing machine cover. It was a first for me to make a double sided bias. I'm excited about the outcome.
My husband recently built a shelf for my sewing machine to sit on, so when I put the finished cover on it, it looked like it
was on a display shelf (especially the way the light shines on it).

My creativity/craftiness comes from my dad and my maiden name is Wrenn so this tattoo of a wren bird with a paint brush is just of that.

6  Re: raise my mattress? in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by MegPrice on: January 15, 2010 12:50:35 PM
I came across this link and thought it was a really cool way to raise your mattress and make additional storage space. I'm thinking of doing something similar. We have a little pet bunny who has a thing for chewing holes in the comforter. He usually hangs out by the foot of the bed and waits for the comforter to hang down.

7  ribbon crossed bulletin board in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by MegPrice on: December 29, 2009 08:25:45 AM

I found this bulletin board in my neighborhood on the street.
People in Park Slope always leaves items they no longer want in a box on the curb, it is pretty cool. The items are usually in good condition.

I replaced the old blue/white gingham fabric with this Alexander Henry, owl fabric that I picked up recently and a dark brown fabric for the bottom of the board. I had some orange ribbon around that I used and then my husband gave me these tacks like things he had that I placed in whereever the ribbons made an X.

The bulletin board looks great on the wall. I'm gonna go back to the store and get more fabric to make a cover for our kitchenaid mixer.

I was planning to cut out a couple of the owls and iron them on the dark brown fabric to help bring the two fabrics together on the bulletin board -not sure yet if I will. If I do, I'll post the updated photo.

This project was pretty easy and quick to do.

Here is a quick look of our computer chair that I reupholstered with this cute Squirrels and Apples fabric.

Here is the computer chair before - I had already started ripping the old fabric off before I took the photo.

Here is the Squirrels and Apples fabric I used.

Here is the reupholstered computer chair that I am now using now in my crafty space. I'm loving it.
