3501  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Re: Sunflower lovers on: May 15, 2005 12:36:21 PM
Ohh... How sunny does it need to be? I've got a balcony in the south, so it's fairly sunny, and I live in sweden, so we're closing in on the nightsun by now... Grin I won't get midnight sun this far south, but it'll be setting around ten in the evening when the day is at it's longest... So the extreme point of the balcony should have sun from 4 AM to 4 PM, but the "better" spots only have sun between 6 or 7 AM to about 2 PM... is that enough? I know nothing about planting stuff I'm afraid. I only know that I was overwhelmed by my mint plant last year, which grew so well that it invaded the other herbs and evolved into a small bush...

Okay, so, I know this isn't really worth posting, but me and my dad have been fixing my balcony today, and I'm happy with the facelift Smiley

The floor on the balcony was just cracked concrete, not very nice to look at, or walk on, though it doesn't look too bad on the only before-picture I could find, 'cause you can't see too much of it Wink

But I'm much happier with how it looks now Smiley Though please ignore my faded flowers from last year, and the pond I haven't refilled with water for summer yet...

It's crappy light on the pic 'cause it's past 9PM here and the sun just set in NW and the balcony is in S/SE (for some reason the sun sets and it'll still be a bright sky for an hour or two, but generally it's twilight other than that)

So yeah Smiley I like Grin

I love this idea!  Unfortunately, I can't participate because my first month isn't over until June 6th.   Cry  Maybe in a few months we can have a another one?

Oh dear.. It's a pity because you're just two days short. If you promise not to flake out, and no-one disagrees I could squeeze you in. Smiley

I don't disagree, but then again - we could also do this swap over and over and over again until the end of time Grin
Or you could postpone the "sign up ends..." date with two days.. that'd work too Wink

or that vegetarian vampire society. I forget their name
It's the Black Ribbon Society isn't it?

Yeah, that sounds right.. For some reason I had this weird thought in my head that it should be red ribbon, but I'm probably horribly mistaken. My memory isn't big enough to keep up with Pratchett I'm afraid (mind you, neither is his I've heard..)

You don't happen to have read Neil Gaimans short story Babycakes? Eh, if you haven't, maybe you wouldn't like to...

Your friends husband wouldn't happen to live in a huge appartment in copenhagen? Grin I was in this appartment belonging to an acquaintance of my mothers once, don't really remember why.. but they had clownes EVERYWHERE.. the walls were covered in paintings of clowns, and some old photos, and they had this really big pianothingy (don't know a proper english word..) which had like 25 or 30 clown statues on them.

Ohh, that sounds so good.. only..
How much is a stick of butter? They all come in different sizes here it seems, depending on the brand... or maybe some are better packed, I don't know.
How many grams or other weight-measurement?

a stick of butter is 1/4 pound, 1/2 cup, 4 ounces, 8 tablespoons, 113 grams...

oh, how precise ^^ Thank you!
