221  Re: Clapotis from Knitty in Knitalongs by Melladh on: November 19, 2006 02:23:10 PM

flash vs no flash

Almost done with the increase! Cheesy I gotta say I love working with Debbie Bliss Maya, even though it's demanding I go to metal needles instead of wooden (it gets stuck because I knit too tightly)
And about done with my first skein... I have no idea how much yarn the rest of the project demands. Do you think a total of four skeins is enough if the increase bit takes one skein?

My first ones, in Falkgarn Sport, a sock yarn wool blend... blues and purples

And I'm currently working on a pair as my mom's birthday present, in Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk

photo doesn't do it justice, it's not as fuzzy/unclear around the cables, and the color is more crisp...
and oh man is this an incredible feel on your skin! it's really pleasant to work with (imo)

and I'm impressed with how speedy this pattern is

My boyfriend doesn't have an account here so I'll sort of just show off my favorites among his manipulations.. Wink

Click the thumbnails for real size Smiley

A photo of a human hand, slightly edited.. Wink

Photo of my boyfriend, slightly edited (I'm not sure exactly what the other photos are, because he stopped showing me so I wouldn't see the "bits" when looking at it)

A header for a part of his homepage, photo of a pen and photo of cracked plaster.

I want to play too, even if I haven't finished a project yet!  Angry
hehehe...

I just wanted to show off my exceptionally 1337 color-matching-over-the-internet-skills Grin
THIS is why I so badly needed Yirq's fabric

The photo is from the side unfortunately, so you can't see how beautiful my round flower buttons are really, but you can imagine Cheesy

it's a PERFECT match both colorwise and printwise! Now I just need to get some purple flowerfabric to match the last button, and odd-knitting-needle-case nr2, here I come Wink

I claim 1/2 yard (or equivalent Wink ) of Qwerty's #2, the deep blue with swirlies.
And I've been longing for it ever since you first posted it, I've just been afraid to claim because I didn't know what to offer! but if you just bare with me a mo I'll post my offerings, now that I have made the claim. (just gotta take a photo first)

___

Photos!

Various quality, none pure quilters fabric, not corresponding sizes between the pics [sans the red]:

1. Black with gold spatter, or dots. Hearts and stars with christmas carol lyricbits in them. Gold framed. Symbols approx 5 inches across I think, pretty far apart. Prolly majorly cotton. 1/2 yard or FQ
2. Offwhite with purple flowers, very thin (you can see layers of flowers on the pic because of the flash o_O ) but not too flimsy. Doesn't feel "wet" like plastics, but is probably a blend. FQ
3. Red with white flowers, doesn't look as bleached in real life - very vivid red. Rather flimsy. 1/2 yard or FQ now mata's
4. Cold gray with a hint of silver, some sort of silver and gray leaves and silver flowers and blue patterns. (you can see a hint of it in the lower right corner) FQ

Quilter cotton fabrics, all pretty much corresponding size to eachothers [sans the stellar]:

5. Blue "living" background with blue-purple leaved twigs with flowers print. Tinytiny print, but looks brilliant. FQ
6. Stellar fabric. Blue and white swirly background sort of, with golden stars and white stars, etc. FQ (if you insist, I can check later if there's 1/2 yard avalible, but my head spins too much to figure out which measurement I have to double and convert to cm )
7. Red vintagy country print (imo) with pink/green flowerlike dots in the center of each square. Squares slightly larger than half an inch. Slightly thinner than common quilters fabric I think (not bought in a traditional quilters store). FQ, I think I can fix 1/2 yard or atleast two FQ!
8. Same as the above but green, FQ or 1/2 yard.

New ones! with my CM measuretape on them (NOT inches)

Wonky colors

9. Blue with flowers, very thin, prolly used for summer skirts or something. Feels cottony, but very thin. Prolly blend.
It's maybe 3 inches short of a 1/2 yard, so I'm offering the fabric at full width (150cm as opposed to the 110cm quilters cotton width) as a fatquarter (since it's more difficult to do something with it the shorter it is, and it's not real quilter fabric)

You can see the colors of 9 better on this photo as well..

10. Graybrown sort of odd fabric  (octiron colored? Grin )  colors' a bit funny from the flash, pattern is in the weaving not in colors. I think it's 100% polyester. FQ++, I'll send the whole piece, it's a slightly odd shape but you can get a FQ from it without any problem.

Here's what I used nr 10 for, for reference
http://www.sysidan.se/obj/photo/m_413b36632a6b7.jpg

Here I was thinking that this would be a good moment to offer some sturdy bedsheets for fabric, in several colors, but then I walk by these and think "hey, maybe someone would like these better, I certainly love them but prolly won't use them in the nearest few years". Roll Eyes

Mmmm, photoshop.. wanna play too... Wink

Here's one I did for a contest.. Characters copyrighted by frisket17 at deviantart.

Foreground horsie had neither mane nor tail to speak of, so it was a bit of a pain, and looks bad too.. the horse was darker than what I needed as well. Argh.
The stallion in the back was atleast gray from the beginning, and did have a tiny bit of mane Cheesy
It comes with a poem. The contest contribution can be found in it's entirety at http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/11716314/
Wink

This is done mostly with filters and patterns, but some bits are hand drawn

This is a commission by a friend, fully hand drawn. First on paper, for general directions, then completely drawn with a mouse only, except for the crosshairs..

A deviantID made in PS

Another.. for my boyfriend, who had a small reaperman for an avatar

And an intended splash-screen for a website I never got around to creating

Photomanip of a tombstone, and a "brush" pinup (yes, I have them as photoshop brushes, to use as stamps Cheesy )

Sorry for the pics being so big, I took them straight off my DA site

228  Painted mug by my artful mother-in-law in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Melladh on: March 24, 2006 01:15:40 PM
So, my mil needed bobbing-lace supplies.. Vildhavre had too much of it. Sooo enter Melladh, organizing a little swap between the two. Smiley Sort of. Or rather, Vildhavre offered when I mentioned that I was looking for supplies for my mil. Haha.

Now I need Vildhavre to say whether the bg should remain white (then she'll get it in two days!) or if it should be dark (then she might have it in two days, OR she'll have to wait until summer Tongue atleast)

Voila

Front

Back

This is painted by freehand, and burned in a real porcelain oven (about 900 degrees celcius or something hah! normal ovens reach maybe 350 if they're strong ones)

Imo, my mil is horridly good.. but she doesn't quite realise it. I'll show you lot a LOAD of photos of her stuff once I get home, and don't have to fight this sucky computer (I'm at my mil's now..) and also once my server is up so I have unlimited picture hosting... Tongue

Ofcourse, comments are welcome, as usual. Smiley

Hey guys, just thought I'd post a picture of what I sent sporx for an "angel" item, because I finally got around to transferring the photos from the camera... Tongue

It's a dodge clock (duh) and according to a site I found, they should be model 1 to 12 of dodge darts. I can't remember the year range, but I know there's like a stop between yearmodel 10 and 11 or something, for two or three years when they made dodge demon instead Huh I know nothing about cars.
