221  Re: Show us your Photoshop and PSP art!!! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Melladh on: April 02, 2006 04:04:56 PM
Mmmm, photoshop.. wanna play too... Wink

Here's one I did for a contest.. Characters copyrighted by frisket17 at deviantart.

Foreground horsie had neither mane nor tail to speak of, so it was a bit of a pain, and looks bad too.. the horse was darker than what I needed as well. Argh.
The stallion in the back was atleast gray from the beginning, and did have a tiny bit of mane Cheesy
It comes with a poem. The contest contribution can be found in it's entirety at http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/11716314/

This is done mostly with filters and patterns, but some bits are hand drawn

This is a commission by a friend, fully hand drawn. First on paper, for general directions, then completely drawn with a mouse only, except for the crosshairs..

A deviantID made in PS

Another.. for my boyfriend, who had a small reaperman for an avatar

And an intended splash-screen for a website I never got around to creating

Photomanip of a tombstone, and a "brush" pinup (yes, I have them as photoshop brushes, to use as stamps Cheesy )

Sorry for the pics being so big, I took them straight off my DA site

222  Re: Ongoing Fabric Swap – Pre-approvals start now! in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Melladh on: April 02, 2006 03:35:49 PM
Okay, here are my swatches, corresponding to my claim of quazicats fabric nr 12 above *points*

Various quality, none pure quilters fabric, not corresponding sizes between the pics:

1. Black with gold spatter, or dots. Hearts and stars with christmas carol lyricbits in them. Gold framed. Symbols approx 5 inches across I think, pretty far apart. Prolly majorly cotton. 1/2 yard or FQ
2. Offwhite with purple flowers, very thin (you can see layers of flowers on the pic because of the flash o_O ) but not too flimsy. Doesn't feel "wet" like plastics, but is probably a blend. FQ
3. Red with white flowers, doesn't look as bleached in real life - very vivid red. Rather flimsy. 1/2 yard or FQ
4. Cold gray with a hint of silver, some sort of silver and gray leaves and silver flowers and blue patterns. (you can see a hint of it in the lower right corner) FQ

Quilter cotton fabrics, all corresponding size to eachothers

5. Blue "living" background with blue-purple leaved twigs with flowers print. Tinytiny print, but looks brilliant. FQ
6. Stellar fabric. Blue and white swirly background sort of, with golden stars and white stars, etc. FQ (if you insist, I can check later if there's 1/2 yard avalible, but my head spins too much to figure out which measurement I have to double and convert to cm Wink )
7. Red vintagy country print (imo) with pink/green flowerlike dots in the center of each square. Squares slightly larger than half an inch. Slightly thinner than common quilters fabric I think (not bought in a traditional quilters store). FQ, I think I can fix 1/2 yard or atleast two FQ!
8. Same as the above but green, FQ or 1/2 yard.

Phew! Hard to think this late Wink

7 and 8 are leftovers from these projects, for those who like putting things into context
cover, 220x160cm (one yard is 96cm)

and matching pillows added far later

5 was used for weathervanes in this project, with nr 6 on the back

1 used here

223  Painted mug by my artful mother-in-law in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Melladh on: March 24, 2006 01:15:40 PM
So, my mil needed bobbing-lace supplies.. Vildhavre had too much of it. Sooo enter Melladh, organizing a little swap between the two. Smiley Sort of. Or rather, Vildhavre offered when I mentioned that I was looking for supplies for my mil. Haha.

Now I need Vildhavre to say whether the bg should remain white (then she'll get it in two days!) or if it should be dark (then she might have it in two days, OR she'll have to wait until summer Tongue atleast)

This is painted by freehand, and burned in a real porcelain oven (about 900 degrees celcius or something hah! normal ovens reach maybe 350 if they're strong ones)

Imo, my mil is horridly good.. but she doesn't quite realise it. I'll show you lot a LOAD of photos of her stuff once I get home, and don't have to fight this sucky computer (I'm at my mil's now..) and also once my server is up so I have unlimited picture hosting... Tongue

Ofcourse, comments are welcome, as usual. Smiley

225  Re: Significant Other Swap in The Swap Gallery by Melladh on: February 22, 2006 12:24:56 PM
Hey guys, just thought I'd post a picture of what I sent sporx for an "angel" item, because I finally got around to transferring the photos from the camera... Tongue

It's a dodge clock (duh) and according to a site I found, they should be model 1 to 12 of dodge darts. I can't remember the year range, but I know there's like a stop between yearmodel 10 and 11 or something, for two or three years when they made dodge demon instead Huh I know nothing about cars.

SO Bobolink asked me to post pictures of what I made ages ago because she couldn't take any, but I never got around to it. Bad me Roll Eyes
But now my computer is finally up and running, and I have fixed pictures worthy of uploading XD

It's a bit of a .. spree.. though. Since I only really took them for personal reference. Roll Eyes

So firstly, I sent a bunch of chocolate Smiley

Because everyone needs chocolate...

And I sent some various

i.e. a "pokerbox", featuring a pinup "joker" girl on the top.
The red blob to the right of that is a "big" ipod cozy, with an embroidered bear paw. It's made to be big enough to fit with an ipod covered with a protective "shell".
The G is a packers magnet, and the last item is a pinup bookmark. (a postcard cutout)

I also bought a bunch of different picks because bobolink said he's learning to play the guitar. I painted the lower three with:
a white skull, a gold phish-logo ('cause he's into phish) though neither the gold or the logo shows on the pic.. and a packers pick XD

Then I made a cd-holder for his car... with velcro closing.

And a t-shirt (yes, I DID jump on the bandwagon for that one... though I didn't know I was being so unoriginal Tongue )

I also felt that the first ipod cozy wasn't up to beat, so I made another one, from stretch denim, lined with red fleece, and embroidered a barbed wire note on it, with solar active thread (should change to green in sunlight, though it was too cloudy here for it to show on camera..)

I added a window to that cozy, so it would be usable without taking the ipod out!

And it has a button (see first pic and third pic) so it will keep closed even when gaining access to the ipod panel...

Lastly I added some stitch markers for bobolink because she's been such a great swap partner Smiley

(my floor LOOKS dirty on that pic, but I swear it's just been damaged by too many rides from the black wheels on my chair)

Soo... that's it Roll Eyes

227  Re: Bookmark Swap 4 in The Swap Gallery by Melladh on: December 13, 2005 05:39:53 PM
Ahhh, my computer is back up! And finally I can share my bookmarks with you guys! Grin

Firstly, on the left is the bookmark from onesmallinstrument, next to the one from girlwonder.

The fairy totally rocks, and it's a taped on stencil so it's reliefed sort of.
Also, I'm insanely fond of cogwheels o_O and the words and that dictionary cutout, is just lovely... (during my more intense writing period, I'd carry dictionaries for several languages around all the time - my parents would really make fun of me for it when on vacation Wink )

Then you see the back of the one from onesmallinstrument next to the one from girlwonder Wink

And finally, the bookmark from stitchingsister (awesome pen might I add)

Warning: Major rambling and picture upload in this message, because bobolink is so amazing and my lovey soooo happy Roll Eyes

I quoted the avi thing this morning... (the avi is the note saying "pick up your package from the post office", in case there's some language error in my head)
And on our way home today we went to pick it up. My day didn't end until 5, but his ended at 3... so I told him he couldn't get the package when I wasn't there, because I wanted to see his reaction. He thought this was very unfair of me because he wanted it instantly, but obeyed Wink

So as soon as he got the package (there was a holdup while waiting in line as well lol) he opened it, at the post office, because he was so curious Grin
Since he knew I was in a swap, he got suspicious when he saw that the from-address wasn't a company, but simply thought I'd asked my partner in "the general swap" as I kept referring it as, to add one item for him.
Well, he found this cute card

explaining the whole thing. He was completely shining with happyness, I don't know a good way of saying it in english really that'll describe how happy he looked Smiley

In the card it was mentioned a thing about quantum mechanics, which he almost started bouncing from reading Roll Eyes (I'll explain by the picture)
Then he realised that there would be more than one item, and that he couldn't keep opening it at the post office so we went home. An addition to mention is that he just moments before bought an amazing bag to use at the university, which he was so thrilled about partially because it's a real great bag in faux leather. But he completely forgot about the bag until he had to pick it up to go home, that's how thrilled he was about this swap Smiley

Sorry for the ramble, it just makes me so happy to see him so happy Wink

So we got home, and went through the items, and had one piece each of chocolate heaven poptarts, and then we got to the photos! (poptarts not photographed)

For some reason, the camera does not want to photograph this properly, but here it is anyway

An utterly amazing knitted notebook cover which imo makes bobolink divine... There's a "bookmark thong" attached to it in what looks like faux leather, with his username in beads at the bottom. So incredible. o_O

A cd-holder, with his "linux user number" on the front, which he was really excited about too when he realised what it was lol (he was a bit overwhelmed)

The inside of said cd-holder!

Each sleave is made of quantum mechanics articles which is utterly amazing. (his major interest) I stuck the card into the sleave so you'll be able to see an example.

And then I realised I'll be spamming with all of these one-by-one pics Roll Eyes

It's a package of cool canadian chocolate shaped like maple leaves which is really cool... and a corkboard with bits of his favorite formulas for marble pins Grin and this really cool knitted battery holder! Which doesn't show up very well either.. the camera doesn't like knittings  Undecided

Here's the pins closer up, and the battery holder open. One side for used batteries, and one for unused batteries!

These were judged to be his absolute favorites:

He doesn't look happy there because it took so long for the camera to get started, and he's had quite a long day, so the muscles are too tired for smiling all the time, but he's really bouncy about it Roll Eyes

But here's a photo that I took more spontaniously when he wasn't expecting and waiting for it, so you can see the big smile Wink

Wow, long message, but these things were just so cool

you have to direct link to the image.. don't know if that place allows it, but I'm trying in an attempt to help Smiley

(hihihi it did... atleast here.. right click your image and chose "properties" and copy the image location.. not the album location.. to place between the img-tags)
