1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / work from this year (img heavy) on: May 25, 2010 06:42:24 PM
i took 2D AP design this year and my concentration focused on the 60's, 70's, and the synthesis of these eras in today's time. these are a few of my pieces. most are done in either sharpie or paint, then digitally fixed up...

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 2 dresses - 1 prom, 1 other on: June 07, 2008 10:13:28 AM
this first one started out as a prom dress, but i ended up making a different one...
it's olive green

this is the one i ended up wearing
the back looks a little bit weird in the picture, i promise it doesn't really look that bad in person haha
the shoes i wore had a knot in them (across the strap, a little hard to explain), so i made the top into a knot to match exactly...you can kind of see the shoes in the second picture (they're also the shoes in the pictures above)

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / green and red vest things on: July 29, 2007 12:32:21 PM
hello!

i whipped these up yesterday
the button-hole maker on my sewing machine has failed, so i sewed a total of 22 button holes - it sure was hell! haha

i made this one 2nd

ps! this isn't crooked, it's just the way i'm twisted to take the picture, hehe

this first, green one, was meant to be a lotttt longer, but i over-guessed the amount of fabric i had, so it's cropped (i will obviously wear a shirt under it, haha)

and the back:

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / groooovy long sleeve yellow mini dress on: July 21, 2007 08:18:25 PM
its made out of a really stretchy, yellow fabric that has silver flecks in it, so it's shimmery (it's also VERY thin, so i have to wear a slip or something under it)
...i got all the fabric for $1.25, not too shabbyyy

for some reason this dress makes me think of the groovy 70's? (hence groovy dress, hehe)

detail: (elastic, kind of off-shoulder)

yay!

ps. it can also be folded up, to wear as a top (didn't get any picture of this though)

comments?  Grin

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / green mini dress EDIT: text tut! on: June 24, 2007 02:33:50 PM
made out of a really, really comfortable olive jersey material
this is actaully the quickest dress i've ever made - took about 30 minutes!
it's kind of an adjustable length....you can pull it all the way down to just above the knee, or let it wrinkle up a bit so its about fingertip length

front (excuse my rediculously messy room Shocked )

side-ish? (i stepped on my camera and the screen broke...so i'm havingn trouble taking pictures haha)

full length, sort of blurry sorryyy

(put on the heels cause they actually match PERFECTLY!  Grin )

whaddya think?  Smiley

ooook, i've decided to make a text tutorial on this cause its really THAT easy hahah
i took no measurements while making this, which is another reason why im just doin a text tut.

first, you'll want to use stretchy jersey like fabric - this way you can achieve the 'drapiness' of the top

now, cut 2 rectangles - these are for the main part of the dress, which covers from the bottom of your bust to wherever you want the length to be

sew these up the sides, and voila, you have the bottom part of your dress.

now, cut 2 rectangles for the top (*for me, all 4 rectangles were the same size)

turn these 2 rectangles so they are the "hotdog" way (horizontally)

cut and sew the top left and top right corners.
sew these. (youre not sewing right-to-left corners together, you're sewing left-to-left and right-to-right)

at the bottom of these, sew about 4 inches in on each side

you should have FOUR holes all around this rectangle: a large hole on the top, 2 arm holes on the left and right side, and a large hole on the bottom.

youre going to take the hole on the bottom and attach it to the top of the tube you sewed before (as the bottom of the dress)

sew it together, turn it right side out, and voila - the dress

it really is that simple. if i wasnt clear enough on any of this tut, feel free to ask questions!

i didnt hem the bottom or sides because the jersey material made it so i could just cut it off and it looked neat (which is also why it only took about 30 minutes to make, haha)
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / hot red mini dress on: June 22, 2007 10:10:43 PM
okay, here we go...
this was made to attend a 'club attire' party
the material is made out of a deep red spandex-y type of material
its basically a plain, tight, red tube dress, with a ruched top, then 2 layers that come from the middle of the bust, open up around the sides, then ruche and finish in the back seem. (am i making any sense? haha)
anywho, in these pics, it had not been hemmed, and i promise, it's not REDICULOUSLY short and daring, just short enough to be sexy hahah

about 10 minutes before the party, i ended up adding straps so i could wear a normal bra with it, because i was lacking a strapless

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / my homecoming dress on: October 08, 2006 11:09:52 AM
sorry the pictures aren't too great cause i had to crop myself out of a bunch of pictures. butttttt....
the top is spandex kind of material thats cinched in the front, its strapless, theres a spandex kind of slip attached to it, then black chiffon over that and gold chiffon over that.
