21  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / metal and leather go rather well... on: December 25, 2005 07:29:10 AM

i made this bracelet/cuff at my work... (www.metaleather.com)
the design is the megarazor from the band zyklon...
took me quite some time to cut it out of 1/4 inch leather... and the metal inlay is in polished aluminium...
22  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / and then there were topless mittens... on: December 23, 2005 09:11:00 PM
i knitted myself a pair of blue sky alpacas mittens... i used their yarn and the pattern...
and since i had some pretty berroco swift yarn sitting around in my knitting box...
i decided that i needed some topless mittens for my work 'cause our heat is broken and my hands sieze up from all the computer work and the cold...
i used a set of 5 pony pearl 10mm double pointed needles... (what i used for my mittens even though the swift yarn suggested using 12mm)
they came out super warm and super soft... i'm thinking of making grey ones...

stitch n' bitch was right about double pointed needles... it IS like wrestling with an octopus...
but i got the hang of it rather quickly...

here's just a random picture of a ball of mama mia next to a ball of swift... the size makes me giggle...   Cheesy
23  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / woo... clothes for the my fashion show... on: December 23, 2005 09:01:56 PM
january 08, 2006: i'm terribly sorry but i've apparently exeeded the photobucket bandwidth... i'm gonna have to wait till whatever date i signed up of this month before they reset it... i'll search out a new picture server soon... for now... please accept my deepest apologies...

i went to seneca for fashion arts... and the graduates work for the whole year in preparation for the annual fashion show in april...
this year i graduated and just wanted to show off my designs and hard work... hope you appreicate...
i used silk, leather, denim, vinyl (clear), and metal...
some of the details on the clothing needs to be seen up close... i'll try to take some photos on a later date...
i screen printed the chromosome print onto the denim...
it drove me insane but it was worth it...
the idea for the collection came from the music of zyklon's aeon... it's a post apolocalyptic / industrial armageddon...

24  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / yarn dye setting... on: December 11, 2005 10:02:39 AM
i have this fabulous yarn but when i knit with it... my hands turn blue...
it's berroco's swift... 100% virgin wool...
now i know that you can use vinegar to set dyes... but i also read somewhere that it would be a very bad idea...
i know that i can wash the yarn prior to get most of the excess dye out...
i was wondering if anyone knows what else i can do to really set the dye...
THANKS!
