11  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / otama... my way... on: July 21, 2006 02:17:14 AM
just made some otamas... but they are my own version...
instead of round tails... they have a wee curly flat tail... but just as cute... if not cuter...
there was a wee conjugation on my kitchen counter...

12  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / woo! new purse! a fat-bottom bag... on: July 12, 2006 04:14:12 PM

i'm fairly proud of myself because this is the first crochet project i've done using a pattern...
i only had enough maroon yarn for the bag body... i used bernat 100% acrylic... it came in a kit... originally for crocheting some snowmen stockings...
there was a supermarket by my friend's place that was selling the kits for $5... pretty sweet for a big bag of yarn...
i'm thinking of making a black and white one in the near future...
13  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / delicious crochet goodness on: July 12, 2006 04:06:16 PM

all the yumminess of freshly baked goods... and absolutely no guilty feelings afterwards...
great with a cup of tea too...

i ***hopefully*** will be featuring them at the toronto comic convention (sept 01-03) along with my other creations...
14  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / i hooked myself an embryo... ***update!*** on: May 28, 2006 03:55:21 PM
this is my first crochet project... i'm fairly proud of myself... just wanted to show it off...
my mom laughed when i showed it to her...

i'd love to put up a pattern of some sort... except that i don't remember what i did... basically i made it up as i went...

15  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / name & logo... mind giving your 2 cents? on: May 14, 2006 02:06:21 PM
i was wondering if i could get an opinion from any of you crafters out there on the inter-web...
i've been selling under the name Death By Design for the last couple of months... but i decided that it was best reserved for a company selling "darker" items...
so i've been doodling and playing around with names and i came up with this...

i'm not too sure if i should keep the swedish name "souvenir kattunge" or if i should change it to "souvenir kitten"...
but any opinion would be great... thanks!
16  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / seeking some courage... on: April 23, 2006 12:56:29 PM
my boyfriend recently suggested that i try to do more with what i make... ie selling it...
i've thought about it many times before... and have given it a small start on etsy...
but i'm fearful of venturing outside of the small sales realm...   Embarrassed
i went to school for fashion design and as encouraging as they may be... there's always the constant reminder that we cannot compete with places like walmart...
i was just wondering if anyone could possibly offer any words of wisedom... or even small encouragement...
tell me about how you got your own thing going... your stories of success will definitely inspire...
thanks!
17  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / soy nuggets on: April 07, 2006 01:59:57 AM
there's a place in kensington market (toronto) that sell these soy nuggets and they are so good... i think that they might be coke filled...
i've been asking some of the vegetarians that i know if they know how to make soy nuggets but there has been no luck... i've also tried looking online but i haven't been able to find anything...
i want to make my own soy nuggets not only because right now i've been living in sweden and asian food is not as easy to come by as it is in toronto... nor is the selection even near the same... but also because those soy nuggets have set me back from getting some extra materials for my crafting...
if anyone knows how to make soy nuggets... please... share your knowledge!
18  EUROPE / SCANDINAVIAN/NORDIC / Great Roving Search in Stockholm on: March 03, 2006 05:36:06 PM
I'm visiting my boyfriend for 2 months in Stockholm and I don't really know the craft/hobby stores in the city.
I'm staying in Hsselby at the moment and have gone to Panduro in search for roving.
They had some good colours at some pretty good prices but I could really use more choice.
I was wondering if anyone on the forum could offer some leads on where else I can find roving.
I could trade you info about some great places in Toronto. I'll also be back in the summer for 3 months so your info will not be given in vain.  Smiley
19  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / first needle felt project: i have dreads! P.S. now i have 2 pigtails!!! on: March 01, 2006 08:02:29 AM

this fall is a 30 count and ties on with a ribbon...
i used 100% merino wool... i bought pre dyed roving for this project...
i think that after i finish off the rovings and make some more... i'll be dying my own roving...
feel free to email me for any information... wendychan777@yahoo.ca
i'll be posting some more photos when i get my boyfriend to take them...

and then i had a pair... i really like these dreadfalls... i think i'll make some more!
i love how every set will be unique and one of a kind... and needle felting is so much fun! stab away all your anger... and no one gets hurt... well... with the exception of the every so often i end up stabbing myself...
20  EUROPE / SCANDINAVIAN/NORDIC / schooling in stockholm? on: December 25, 2005 10:02:38 PM
i just thought i might give it a shot... i know that this isn't really craft related but i figured that someone might know...
i'm looking into going to stockholm... hopefully reside permanently...
i've graduated from college in canada for fashion arts and design and would like to take a post graduate program or course in the same area... i was thinking that costume design would be great too...
i haven't exactly been able to locate any sites for schools that would offer courses in that field.. i mean even a name for a school would be great and i can do farther research...
if someone can throw some directions my way that would be great... and it's ok if the sites are in swedish... i can get my boyfriend to take a look at it for me...
but thanks for anything at all...
