So this is a painting i made based off of a very difficult experience.
Currently i work in the kennel of an animal hospital, and i absolutely LOVE it, but its not easy. Especially when really sick or injured dogs come in with animal control or even clients.
My worst experience was a Saturday, a few months ago. The story is : A woman brought in a dog that belonged to her neighbor. you can read the news article here: http://www.wtoctv.com/Global/story.asp?s=4251168
, but the gist is that basically, this dog was so infested with fleas and other parasites that he scratched his own face off. No eyelids, no nose, just a horrible wreck of a dog... Which would have happened over a very extended period of time, but the owner "kept the dog in the closet" so as not to be bothered with it. The dogs name was wishbone. Someone i work with thought it would be funny if i saw it... (i tend to be really sensitive about these things) and told me to look as they pulled him up out of the blanket. At which point i clocked out, went home, cried for a few hours, and spoiled the hell out of my dogs.
It was really etched into my brain. i cant forget it at all. It really bothered me how my mind would wander to it. So i decided to finally get it down on paper to make myself feel better. Then i started thinking about a ton of things I've seen that make me feel the same way. so this may become a series. I also may sell them, or prints, and donate some proceeds to local non-profit animal agencies.
Anyways, if you think you can stomach it, here is a (tastefull) version of what i saw that day.

Any comments and critiques welcome, and i hope i didn't disturb anyone!
