1  Zebra Crayon Roll in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by longHardlook on: November 14, 2009 02:18:35 PM
I've been wanting to make a crayon roll for a while, and finally had an excuse in a little girl's birthday party. It's so hard not to buy new fabric for every project, but I made myself use what I had and think it turned out pretty well.

I sewed a strip of the ribbon along the front of the pouch to help distinguish the front of the pouch from the back since they are both the same fabric. It was a little extra work, but came out well.

I've never been very good at measuring, so the slot on the right is too small, but still works, and the slot on the left is too big, it probably should have been 2 slots as there are only 15, and should be 16. And I sewed the ribbon on backwards. I think in the future, I'd like to use some sort of rubber band, maybe like a ponytail holder.

2  Bento Box Baby Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by longHardlook on: November 09, 2009 06:57:12 PM
This is the second quilt I've made. My hubby helped me figure out the size and how to get it offset. I made it for my friend's baby who was born in September. She said she liked it so much she couldn't let the baby use it and is using it to decorate the baby's nursery.

I backed it with a bright pink flannel, almost too bright, but it's soft.

My free motion quilting is pretty iffy, so I did stitch in the ditch for this one. I kinda wish I would have done some sort of outline instead.

I blogged about it here : http://takealonghardlook.blogspot.com/2009/08/baby-ds-quilt.html
