1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Home-made Wall-size poster? on: May 12, 2007 12:35:45 PM
I saw on here a while ago, some one who had made a huge poster wall-size at home, using some fabulous program that printed the image on consecutive pieces of paper.

any idea where that might be?
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Silk: needs advice for pattern/technique for a shirt on: August 26, 2006 02:22:02 PM
On a recent trip to China (yes China!), I picked up some gorgeous silk, bright blue with a WILD multicoloured pattern. I would like to make some kind of halter/tank top from it, and have a couple questions:

1. How difficult is it to sew 'slippery' silk? Do I need a special needle, and all will be solved, or is it best to take it to a seamstress? (My sewing skills are average).

2. Does anyone know of a good pattern (fun, not too conservative) that would work? The pattern is amazing, but really large (1 per m) so I'd like to minimize the number of seams if possible!

Thanks in advance!
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: More scrabble tiles! Chinese takeout menu. on: May 28, 2006 05:19:50 PM
If you're familiar with beads at all, a bugle bead (or two) super-glued on the back would probably work well.
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Easter / Re: Easter Eggs With Wax Motifs : Tutorial on: April 14, 2006 05:43:57 PM
Just a further note (possibly reviving this board?): Instead of the really complicated melting-wax-off-with-candle method, you can put the eggs in an oven, on top of a cookie sheet covered with paper towel, at about 250. It works just as well, and takes much less effort!

man...sequin embelishments all the way!

P.S.: you can also use the same stuff, just stretchy, to make one of those also ridiculously expensive belts.
