381  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Oh Cable throw on: December 15, 2009 10:26:40 AM
So I'm knitting/crocheting family members throws for x-mas....man was I high when I thought that up? It's quite time-consuming, but since I live in FL, there's not a high demand for scarves, hats, and other various knitted accessories, so I thought throws. First up is a cabled throw I made for my parents in dark brown acrylic yarn.

and a close up of the cable pattern

And for my boyfriend's mother...I thought I picked an easier pattern, but I can honestly say if I never use speed stix again I'll be ecstatic. I would rather impale myself with one than ever knit with them again.

thanks for looking! (2 down...2 to go)

382  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Bridal Shower Gift on: November 21, 2009 09:02:33 PM
thanks! I would probably never do it again because it took forever and I kept messing up. it was ridiculously detailed! but I got the stitch pattern off one of those freebie patterns from Michael's or JoAnn's or somewhere.

Thanks! I was obsessed with it for about 2 weeks and would just cover canvas with that in all different color combos! Smiley

A lot of these I was inspired to do to hang in my son's room. All were done in acrylics.

A Sailor Jerry inspired name Banner hanging above his crib. :]

Inspired by Kurt Halsey. I also saw fireflies the night after I found out I was pregnant.

I <3 snails. And apparently I like to decorate my son's room in bugs and pirate stuff. :p

On to other paintings that I've done that are just hanging up around the house.

386  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Bridal Shower Gift on: November 20, 2009 07:00:39 PM
So my sister got married about a month ago, and for her bridal shower (which was back in August....I just now decided to post pics) I crocheted her an aran afghan. It was very frustrating, because I would keep frogging it. Then I realized that when you look in the sunlight, one chunk is lighter because it was from a different dye lot even though I got a yarn that claimed it wasn't from a dye-lot, but needless to say my sister loved it and despite the color issue, I'm quite proud. It was massive, thus I couldn't get a good full shot because if I stood on a chair in my house, I'd be hunched over as to not hit my head. Ok, enough jabbering, on to the pics.

we have a queen size bed and it was folded partially under itself so it's as big as a queen.

a detail shot of the stitches.
387  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Baby Sweater! on: November 18, 2009 07:02:25 AM
So my bf's sister is having a little baby girl, so I decided to knit her a little sweater! I used a pattern from One Skein Wonders, and southwest trading co. bamboo yarn. It's the 2nd baby sweater I've ever knit, the first one was for my son, but seeing as how he was almost 12 lbs at birth, and only kept growing at a ridiculously rapid rate, he only wore it once. Here's to hoping that her baby is a normal size and gets many wears out of it!

388  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: My Little Animal on: November 02, 2009 11:21:15 AM
Thanks! yeah, if it actually got cold down in FL he could wear it......or if he liked to keep it on his head. :p He's def not a fan of hats!
389  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / My Little Animal on: November 01, 2009 05:21:09 PM
So this is my first post ever on craftster, long time lurker. Since about a week after my son was born, I began thinking of what his first Halloween costume would be. I finally decided that I would make him Animal, from the Muppets. Being a knitter, I decided to knit a beenie-style hat out of fun fur. Well, that was a pain in the ass. But well worth the effort, because I love my lil man's costume!
