Yay my first swap!  My name's Kara, and I've been a long time lurker of craftster, and only recently started posting my work. I've been sewing on and off since I was about 10, I'm a little rusty, but I just received a new to me sewing machine for christmas and it has (finally!) been fixed up and I will be moving it into my house soon! So I will be brushing up on my skills.  I've wanted to learn to knit since..well forever, and once I got to college, I started teaching myself. I can make scarves, bags, hats, and blankets. I was starting my first jumper when I tragically found out about 1/3 of the way through that I'm allergic to wool. Such is life. So now I'm trying to work out knitting and crocheting with plant fibers and trying to find patterns to work with said fibers because I'm not confident enough to make up my own yet! I dabble in embroidery as well. I also paint (I was in school for graphic design and fine arts...along with about 5 other majors....until I decided I needed a break from school because I was so confused about what I wanted to do!) and I plan on learning everything I can about every craft. I just want to be a jill of all trades!

And on the personal note, I have a son, he's 17 months, and he's the light of my life. Since I spend my days chasing him around, my nights (when I'm not trying to catch up on sleep!) are devoted to crafting. I'm just excited to finally be doing a swap and looking forward to seeing everyone's projects!

This is AMAZING! The lime green/fuschia color combo happens to be my favorite! I love this bag so much it makes me want to attempt one...until I think of all the ends to weave in!  Great work!

This is too cute! I attempted to do a very similar jumper and about 1/3 of the way through I had the epiphany that I am extremely allergic to wool (hence the pounding headaches, difficulty breathing, and extreme eczema like rash on my arms and part of my leg where the yarn would hit) so I had to frog the project.  But I love this! And now I'm just going to have to do some hunting for a non-wool yarn to re-attempt mine!

So I have a friend who's pregnant with a little girl and is doing her nursery cherry blossom themed. So I whipped up a little granny square blanket with cherry blossom colors. Hopefully she loves it!

Yeah too bad I live in FL and finished it just in time for the cold snap to end. 

So I'm finally learning to integrate colors. Not quite up to intarsia or fair isle, but this is a step in the right direction I think!

lol...it's called a dewdrop stitch....I found it in my massive index of knitting and crochet stitches. I always like getting pos. feedback on my crochet, because I'm more of a knitter, and it took me about a year to figure out how to crochet. Thanks!
