So earlier this year in my Graphic Design class, we had to create physical (non-digital) fonts. One of mine was made out of french knots. Talk about a long and tedious process. But now I'm a master at french knots!
I also ended up putting it in my senior show last month, because I spent so much time on it, I couldn't NOT display it!
I'm posting this here because it was for my senior show for the visual arts program at my school. I took the idea of the hanging hemp light....and ran with it. My concept was the idea of home, and the silent role of the home maker. It was called 'making home'. I wanted to explore the different aspects of home, the fragility, the warmth, the memories, and the accumulation of stuff. About $200 worth of hemp, 3 bottles of Modge Podge, 4 months, and countless nights of wrapping balloons, it has come and gone. I just got around to uploading pics because I was busy graduating (finally, after 8 years!) and being unemployed. So now, on to the photos.
I'm very glad it's over. There are some embroidery pieces in there as well, but I wasn't as pleased with those, although everyone else seemed to like them. I'm so relieved to have done it, seen it through, and all the research that went into it really broadened my horizons. What an experience!
So I received the most spectacular box from silentblair the other day. She has been such an awesome partner and I'm totally spoiled!!!!
(I was opening my package during my son's bath time, so I didn't get any of them wrapped, but she put the cutest magazine cut outs on each package!)
First is an amazing magnet board for my son! (she even included popsicle stick puzzles of Kermit, Gonzo, Fozzie, and Animal!) and some cool Muppet magnets.
and in action
(he's obsessed with smelling things)
a saaahhhhweeeeet Labyrinth bag
It says "I solved Jareth's Labyrinth and all I got was this lousy baby" and it's in the red and white striped fabric like Toby's pajamas! (I absolutely love this!)
a Sweetums (my favorite!) ice cream cozy! She had asked me early on if I ate ice cream out of the pint, and I never would've connected the two! I'm going to go buy some Ben & Jerry's tomorrow just so I can test it out!
silentblair, you rock! Thanks again for everything, and for being such and awesome partner!
I love the ornaments!!! And cute towels! So I don't know why I haven't shared this with you guys before, but for my son's first Halloween 3 years ago, I made him Animal! I made the costume myself and was pretty darn proud!
So I finally tackled knitting on circulars! It's waaaay easier than I thought (at least this cowl was) and I'm more likely to attempt a bit more difficult project now seeing that keeping stitches straight wasn't terribly hard!
It was actually for the fiber swap that I was just in, and she received so I thought I'd post. I'm really quite proud of the simple lacy pattern!
I received from sillymushyhippocake last week, and just got around to uploading a few pics. This is one of the best swaps ever, and I had a perfectly matched partner, so thank you sheepblue for pairing us together! On the a few pics!
Ummm Fraggle Cars?! I still have my original Gobo! These things made my flipping day!!!
some wicked clay things, a couple of octopi pendants, a few goldfish (one's a pin) and an awesome peanut man pendant!(I love his distinguishing mustache!)
Some lovely earrings!
some awesome necklaces!
There were also marbles, a pair of cowboy boots keychain, a grow your own bling diamond ring, stickers, a cute little green guy who's eyes pop out (my son loves!) jack skellington shoelaces, and a vast array of other little goodies! It was just taking forever to upload all my photos, so I'm sharing what I have! Thanks again, sillymushyhippocake! (and a belated Happy Birthday!)
I'm so spoiled!!!! 2 drop spindles and a heap stuff to get spinning!!! I got some alpaca fiber, bamboo, and corn!! I'm seriously excited (and kicking my butt into gear on finishing up her package!) and then I'll let myself start attempting to spin. Thanks so much OspreyWife!!!!!
Better late then never right?! So I received from Amigurumi4Life a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time ago. But school happened to start (6 classes this semester, 4 of them are intense studios) I picked up a second part time job, and life in general has just kept me away from Craftster. (This is why I don't swap while I'm in school. It's too difficult for me to keep up with the post etc!) So anyway....
the whole shebang!
all the super cute extras a couple of charms/keychains, some tiny origami paper, and erasers!!! (I had to promptly hide those from my son because I buy them for him usually as "treats")
A cute Frankenstein like rice ball! and some HK ear hair clips! So cute and I will be rocking them for Halloween this year!
And last but not least, the most awesome, (kind of what I was actually hoping for...I think she just knew!) an AladdinSane Kitty! My love for Bowie is paramount, and although it may be taboo to say on this board, it far surpasses my love for HK. But seriously, this is AWESOME!!!!!
So again, apologies all around for taking oh about 2 weeks or so to post images. I was quite pleased with my package however!
