So I can't believe this didn't occur to me before... but there HAS to be other craftsters who love Freaks and Geeks as much as I do.  And there's soooo many possibilties for crafts.  This brilliant show deserves to be immortalized in craft, dont' you think?  Anybody with me?

43  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / My desire to poke my eye out with a crochet hook on: April 18, 2005 12:53:41 AM
Why can I not get this?  My stitches are all tight and lumpy, I'm forming a curve instead of a straight piece, and I think I keep going into the wrong loop.  Did anybody else have this much trouble teaching themselves?  I think I suck.

45  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / ideas to jazz up a cashmere scarf on: March 29, 2005 08:02:31 PM
so here's the thing.  i just ordered some dark grey cashmere to knit my mommy a scarf.  if i was going to make her one i wanted it to be nice.  i'll have 150 yards. but i don't want to do just a straight scarf.  that's boring.  however, i'm thinking that stripes or cables would be out of place on cashmere.  anybody have any good ideas for an alternate stitch?  feel free to yell at me if i'm not giving enough information.  Smiley

Non-U.S. participants allowed? Hey, if you have access to a Barbie, why not?

Details of swap: Barbie has always been a pristine picture of supposed beauty.  It's time to give her a new look. Smiley  Modify your Barbie in any way you want - give her a theme!  Ideas: Hippie Barbie, Goth Barbie, Punk Barbie, Japanese Street Fashion Barbie, Hollywood Barbie.... just to name a few.  Be creative!  I think I'm going to have to say get an actual Barbie brand Barbie - I'd hate to see someone send out a real one that get one of those Dollar Store imitations back.  Smiley  If you can find them at a thrift store, by all means, but otherwise, they're pretty cheap at Walmart (I know, eek) or stuff like that.  Either make your own accessories, or drastically alter the store bought ones.  This is my first swap organizer written paragraph, so I'm sorry if it's nastily unclear. Smiley  This is going to rock!! Smiley

47  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Barbie Body Modification Swap on: March 08, 2005 01:20:23 PM
So what if we each took a Barbie (they're getting super cheap these days, 4-5 bucks) and re-did her clothes, hair, make-up, etc, to make a different "genre" of Barbie? I bet we could come up with a bunch of good ones - for example punk Barbie, Hippie Barbie, Goth Barbie, heck even Japanese Street fashion Barbie. Smiley

Sound good to anyone?
48  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Jewish Swap on: February 16, 2005 11:48:48 AM
So here's what I'm thinking.  There haven't been any real cool Jew swaps, or at least in awhile.  There are also some amazing jewelry makers on craftster, and craftsters from all over the world.  I'm willing to bet we all have access to different stars of David and other Judaica charms, as well as cool beads/chains/cords/Jewelry paraphanelia, etc.  So I thought it would be cool to do a Jew Jewelry swap.  Anything you want to make, though I imagine necklaces would be most popular.  Anybody else thing this is a cool idea?
49  California / California: South / Attention my fellow Valley knitters and crocheters (particularly Burbank) on: February 13, 2005 08:29:39 PM
So... I do the local stitch and bitch Wednesday nights at 7:00 (though people show up for the next 2 hours) at my local coffee shop, Priscilla's, in Burbank.  It used to be that there was 10-12 of us, but the numbers have dwindled to 3-4.  We'd hate to lose the group, and we'd love to see some new members there.  We have both knitters and crocheters (ok, one crocheter, but we want more) and it's my coffee shop, so of course I love it, but it's a great place too.  Very cool women, good times had, please come!!!

It's at Priscilla's coffee, which is on Riverside right where Riverside and Alameda meet, if you know the area.  If you don't, the address is 4150 W Riverside Dr, Burbank, CA.  If that STILL doesn't ring a bell, please feel free to PM me.  I'd love to see some more people there... here's hoping!

50  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Anti Valentine's Day Bloody Heart Chocolate on: February 09, 2005 01:13:07 AM
Hey guys, wanted to contribute to the "Anti-Valentine's Day" craft.  Milk chocolate heart filled with caramel, I made the caramel and then molded the chocolates (you can tell I did them cause they're a little smooshy).  Then, a cute little dagger I made myself stabbed into the heart, and bleeding red chocolate.  I made a bunch of these and they're Valentine's Day presents for ally my buddies.  I'm super proud of the way they turned out.
