21  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / nagano sakura!! (pretty flower "scarf") on: August 26, 2006 07:36:38 PM
yay!  i made nagano sakura from knitty for my sister.  she has a cute little affinity for totally useless pieces of clothing so i thought this would be perfect for her!! i think this is actually the first one i've even seen posted on craftster so i'm excited. Smiley

pictures:

a wide picture of her wearing it:

and a closer picture of it:

i didn't do the flowers that were included in the pattern because i tried them and they looked silly.  so i found a pattern for crocheted flowers and i attached those instead.  i'm so pleased with how it came out!!
22  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I made up a wallet!! on: August 14, 2006 11:13:07 AM
I'm super proud, you guys.  I wanted to make a wallet for my sister that had card pockets, an ID pocket, a wide money pocket, and a change purse.  But NONE of the patterns I saw had all my desires. So.... I made one up!!!

I based it loosely on the packing tape wallet, only... well, sewn. Smiley

The front of the wallet.  It's a little sloppy, but it was my first one.  I bet if I did it again it would look better.

The change purse of the wallet.  I know one side of the zipper is exposed, but I didn't feel like putting a little flap over it, which I could have. Smiley

I made it to match this messenger bag I made for her for school.  I get to give it to her in a few days, I'm so excited!! Smiley
23  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / is it possible??? a question about strength on: July 16, 2006 06:54:42 PM
my sister asked me to make her a messenger bag for school.  and i'd definitely like to try the challenge.  but... i'm worried about the strength of the bag, being able to hold school books cause they're usually so heavy.

so is there a way to make a sewn one strong enough?  what makes a bag super strong? keeps the straps from ripping out and whatnot.

or should i do a felted purse instead?  though i don't think she'd like that.
24  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / is this a good way to display my jewelry? on: July 11, 2006 05:40:54 PM
so this was my weirdo idea for how to show my jewelry on my site.  what do you guys think?

25  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / short n' sweet help on: June 04, 2006 02:59:33 PM
ok... so i just did rows 2-9.  now am i supposed to do rows 10-12 and then fasten off and then start on the right front?  these patterns seem way more confusing than knitting. Smiley

27  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / rowan kidsilk substitute? on: April 10, 2006 05:20:34 PM
i'm trying to think of a good kidsilk substitute... possible from knitpicks?  i wanna make this:
http://neoknits.blogspot.com/2006/03/its-ready.html
but i don't wanna buy 5 balls of kidsilk.  at $12 a ball, yikes.  but i'm having trouble figuring it out, because i think i remember what kidsilk feels like, and it didn't feel like sock yarn to me, but that seems to be the fingering weights they have on knitpicks.  suggestions, anyone?
28  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / conversion to lace? on: April 10, 2006 10:29:53 AM
is there any way to convert patterns to lace? there's one or two pullover style sweaters that i'd love to do in a lace pattern, but i'd have no idea how to make that translate.  do you just do it by.. gauge?  inches?  i have no idea.  just kind of wondering. Smiley
29  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / What about when organizers disappear? on: March 02, 2006 02:44:09 PM
I have some swaps that are listed on my profile as "In Progress" and I've tried to contact the organizers to change it... but they've either disappeared or simply didn't do it!! I want the swaps to be finished... I finished them!!! Smiley

This is sort of a tricky area because if mods changed it, they would be taking on faith that we finished the swaps.

Anybody else having this problem?
30  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / will someone reconstruct my t-shirts for me? on: January 11, 2006 12:49:36 PM
i hope this is the right section... i wasn't sure if i should put this here, or in finished projects, since the people who do the rocking reconstructions tend to frequent the finished area to post their projects. Smiley  but here goes....

i have two shirts that i really treasure, but they're both ginormous. i want them to fit me.  not necessarily become entirely different shirts, since i've just moved to portland and can't really wear tanks or tube tops or the like... but just kind of reconstructed into smaller t-shirts.  i can send a shirt that fits me perfectly along with the two shirts for a sizing idea.... also i'm wondering if shirts can be turned into v-necks, in which case i would LOVE - i dig slightly lower necklines.

i'd be super willing to pay or trade crafts or supplies or anything of the like... but i want them done right, and i know if i try and do them i'll screw them up horribly. Smiley  is there anyone who thinks they can help me out with this? i would be forever grateful!!!  you can reply here or PM me, either or.  thanks ahead to all you amazing craft goddesses!
