This is about my 5th or 6th wallet I've made out of a vintage Playboy, but it's the first one i've remembered to take pictures of, and also my favorite.  For the last couple wallets I used the packing tape tutorial: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=9299.0

But on this one, I decided to sew it, in the hopes of it being sturdier.

I hope you like it!
32  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Star of David swap? (AKA the Jew Jewelry Swap) on: April 21, 2007 01:11:42 PM
cross-stitch mezuzah! wow Smiley

Any news on this swap? Is there an organiser?

ha, well this was my idea ages ago, but i'd totally be willing to still organize, if there was enough interest.

for those of you that have finished, do you know how much yardage you ended up using?  i'm about 13 inches up both arms (i'm doing them at the same time), and i have one full ball left (123 yards) and then maybe.... half of another ball?  do you think this is enough?  i'm going to be so devastated if i get so close and then have to wait to order more yarn to finish!

i'm done with the back and the fronts! now just the sleeves!  if this thing doesn't fit me properly i'm totally going to cry.

I wore my sweater all day today...  The sleeves are almost comically long, (I could have made the size down easily) and the "Michelin Man" effect is in full force still.  Sweater is currently being blocked out of necessity, as much as my cheap-o yarn can possibly be blocked...  Will let you know how it really turns out.  Wink  Pictures soon!

do you think it would be good to try and make the sleeves shorter, or do the size down for the sleeves or something?

i'm almost done with the back! i'm a little farther along than the picture indicates (i'm about halfway through the armhole shaping) but i wanted to post a picture so i can join.

i'm hoping that i can start (and maybe finish) one of the fronts today? yay!!

it's definitely not as red as the photo suggests - it's much more brown.  but still yay!
38  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: my super awesome tiled colorful crazy bedroom wall on: March 27, 2007 04:58:02 PM
Hey - I totally stole your awesome idea and did an accent wall in a similar way (only, I made mine checkered...).  But, I don't know if it's the humidity or what, but my pages are buckling Sad

Any ideas on how to get them to lie flat? I used several rolls of double-sided scotch tape that doesn't seem to be holding.   I thought about using contact paper - but I don't want to mess up my paper.

Help Please?

it occurs to me that some double stick tape is simply just sort of crappy. i imagine that if one piece of it isn't holding properly, then immediately there's lots of strain put on the other pieces, and the whole thing goes kerflooey.  i used just regular scotch tape shaped in a little roll - you know what i mean, i can't come up with the right word for it. Smiley

hooray!  i've started!! i'm using knitpicks' merino style in cinnamon.  the lace is so pretty!  now i'm on boring reverse stockinette and i can't wait to get back to lace!
40  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: knitpicks new yarn Cotlin? on: March 25, 2007 05:12:54 PM
i ordered it, in desert turquoise, which i thought was a lovely pale, sea foamish blue, like on the website.  http://knitpicks.com/CotLin_YD5420162.html
it was instead a hideous bright turquoise.  i had to return it because a sweater would look utterly ridiculous knitted in it.

also, i didn't actually find it all that soft at all.  i imagined a sweater in it being rather uncomfortable. instead of ordering a different color, i just went ahead and got the merino style instead.

just my two cents.
