1  My take on the book~bag purse. in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by tawnisw on: January 24, 2007 05:48:59 PM
I saw the most amazing book purse here!  So, I tried to follow the tutorial to it's full extent, and although i tend to disregard directions a lot more than I should... I got the general idea!  Here's some that I made!

TADUHHHHH!

Oh I'm excited. I took a pair of overall shorts (seen here & banished after making new years resolutions) and a skirt (that I didn't take a picture of because my mind was calculating a pattern and I forgot).

And anywho... I made an overall apron halter top.  Too Cute for words!

3  O NO! It's snowing again and my legs are SOOOO cold! What should I do!?! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by tawnisw on: January 22, 2007 01:46:50 PM

First I found an old sweater that was never my favorite, then I cut the sleeves off!

Then I hemmed the edge where I'd cut (that side is the top of each legwarmer).

Then I went into my dirty bedroom... cuz the light is good in there, and I took a picture of myself, upside down in the camera, so that's where the extra credit points come into play!

My hubby says I get even more points if next, I will clean my part of our room.   Roll Eyes

4  Shopping for free~ it's perfect for me! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by tawnisw on: January 22, 2007 01:12:22 PM
I got a hankerin to go shopping this morning.  Unfortunately, the passes I'd need to cross to journey to the closest city were all closed today.  Hmmm... what was I to do?

(my only mistake was not taking any 'before' pictures).

First I removed the sleeves from an old work shirt I had, then I rehemmed them and added them to a favorite tank top that was once a dress.  Then I added a skirt, as it was, to the bottom.  Sewed them all together and finished it up with a scarf as a belt.  I'm proud of myself.  NOW, where should I wear it... a.  the grocery store    b.  the post office    c. to pick up the kids after school?HuhHuhHuh   O the dilemnas I face in my tiny little town.   Grin

5  The robe converted to a knee length wrap around skirt! Abracadabra~moolikazoo!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by tawnisw on: September 17, 2006 10:05:41 PM
So, I was given a handmedown robe.  It worked okay, but I am not a robe girl... probably should work on being a little bit more modest... but I'd rather wear a pair of long johns and an old stained up ripped up tshirt.

So, it was nice, but my favorite thing about it was the rayon in the fabric.  It would be nicer if you could wear that kind of fabric to work or at least out of the house... right?  So, I cut off the bottom and I reworked it using the belt, and ended up with a knee length wrap around.  Now that WE all know that I'm handy, who wants to tell my husband?  *winks*

6  Another version of the necktie skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by tawnisw on: September 03, 2006 10:58:18 PM
I made a long flowy one a while back, but this one is super cool.  I even got to use a kids dinosaur tie in the mix.  I love that I can usually find old neckties for fifty cents... if you know where to get them cheaper... let me know, I'm anxious to try assembling a necktie bookbag.  (seen here a while back).  Anywho Wink Brought my sewing machine with me on our vacation, so this was late in the evening, in the hotel... I never know when I'm gonna need something new and funky to wear!

7  hippie apron halter made from old clothes. in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by tawnisw on: September 03, 2006 09:49:21 PM
I had a brown skirt that was given to me by a dear friend.  I had a pair of levis that no longer fit comfortably.  Tiredly they sat in a bag labeled "thrift store" for months and months... until one day... I got a hankering for something new and comfy and sexy too.  I usually wear a shirt underneath it, just to maintain a modest appearance and appease my hubby's concerns.  But here's a picture of what I came up with.

8  gazing ball for the garden ~ who says seven years bad luck!? in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects by tawnisw on: June 07, 2006 08:38:45 PM
I'm pretty sure this has been done before, but you never really appreciate the time that goes into creating a gazing ball for the garden until you DO it!  This was an old ceiling light... imagine it plain white and upside down...  Anyway... it was super fun, and made me feel super ambitious!  Hope you enjoy.

9  wind chime from old junk TOOO COOL in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects by tawnisw on: June 07, 2006 08:36:23 PM

I haven't posted pictures or projects in a  while, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy creating... instead it just means I hope my picture works.

This Windchime is made mostly from stuff I found in free boxes at yard sales last weekend.  The hanger hook part is bailing wire.  The frame is an old bike tire frame.  The wire that holds the old outdoor faucet knobs is old electric fence wire.  Anyways, it was pretty easy aside from drilling some holes.  Super fun project, and it sounds amazing when the wind blows or when someone bumps into it.  p.s.  it's not in the garage anymore!

10  Re: Hi Girls - this is my first post! Necktie Skirt etc.... in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by tawnisw on: February 03, 2005 03:37:04 PM
So, I realize it has been a while, but I just found my camera, so I am FINALLY posting a picture of the older lady necktie skirt.  The one for people who don't think it does anyone any good to see my legs too good  Wink  So here's my version.
