Also, as for learning to knit..there are a couple if Kintters Guilds in the area.  You can join and they meet once a month and help you with learning to knit, or if you are experienced, you can help others learn.  The Berea Knitters Guild does a free knitting class at the Berea Library twice a year.  I went in January and had a blast.  The people are soooo nice   Good Luck!
