1  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / EZ Up Tent for sale in Brooklyn on: April 12, 2010 10:07:04 AM
I have a 10x10 white EZ-Up tent for sale. I used it at a few craft fairs, but I'm not doing them anymore. Get it and own one instead of renting one for Renegade! It goes up fast, one person can theoretically do it herself, but it's much easier with two people. I also have at least one Velco-on side wall, a couple of sandbags to weigh it down, and the carrying case. You'll have to pick it up from my apartment in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. $100. Let me know if you're interested or if you have any questions!

A couple of pics, don't really show off the tent, but you can see it's one of those hardy ones: http://www.flickr.com/photos/carryboo/170523700/
And this one shows it on the far left: http://www.flickr.com/photos/carryboo/170906544

3  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / Renegade Craft Fair THIS WEEKEND! on: June 23, 2005 02:09:38 PM
Hey New Yorkers!

I know I know, how can you forget, it's been pounded in your head for months already...

but...

Don't forget to stop by at the Renegade Craft Fair
This weekend!  Sat June 25 and Sun June 26!

HOURS: 10:30am to 5pm!
LOCATION:  McCarren Park in good ole Billyburg.
SUBWAY DIRECTIONS:  Take the L train to Bedford Ave, the first stop in Brooklyn, and the park is at the corner of Bedford and N 12th.  For more on the trains, check this map.  For driving directions, check the Renegade website.

It's going to be so awesome.  I promise.  If you go and it's not awesome, I owe you one handmade apology card.

I'm CarryBOO and I'm at booth 10, where I will lure you into my tent with shade, porcupine pincushions, fuzzy animal pouches, and refreshing lollipops.  Come say hi!
4  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / Small poly baggies source? on: March 10, 2005 12:47:18 PM
Hiya!

Can anyone suggest a place in the city to buy plain, small poly (clear plastic) bags without zips for cheap?

I've found some places on the interweb, but I thought I'd check close to home before I dropped money on shipping.

Thanks!
5  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / Help me make a canv-ass of myself on: January 19, 2005 01:31:18 PM
Any painters/sewers/sailing enthusiasts have a good tip for where to find the cheapest non-treated, medium-weight canvas in New York?

Know where they sell rock bottom closeout drop cloths?

Heard about a sale on sails (ho-hoo!)?

Have a friend who gave up portraiture and needs to unload a 100-yard roll of canvas to make space in his heart and home for sculpture?

Any great ideas will be appreciated!
6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Crafty Business Meeting on: January 11, 2005 04:54:31 PM
Everybody's business tips on here have been helpful as I've been thinking about starting my own online shop!  Particularly today when I saw some suggestions about using your local Small Business place for free info.  And then I had a super-brilliant idea--what about merging these two phenomenal resources (SBA + Craftster = awesome!) for one cool event!

I'm in New York City and would like to see if anyone would be interested a program like this.  A panelled forum about success in a web-based craft-selling world.  The panel might include all-star Craftsters who could each share a particular strength.  Different things people might like to learn about (or that I would like to hear about from some experienced folks): domain stuff (registering, good/bad servers), pricing, buying supplies, accounting (keeping records, paying/charging taxes, tax exempt stuff, PayPal/other methods of collecting cash-o-la), marketing (site swaps, press releases, getting high ranks on search engines), wholesale, cosignment (on the web and in stores), and branching out to craft fairs (costs, licenses).  And other general pearls of wisdom...

So--calling out to all of you in the New York metro area/New England/hey anywhere you can come from!!  Let me know if this sounds intriguing.  Better yet, let me know if you think you could and would be willing to wisely offer advice on these subjects.  Better, better yet, let me know if you would go to something like this!  If there's a good response, I'll see if I can work something out with my local SAB (who also have a branch dedicated specifically to women in business).  And if that doesn't work and you're still interested, I'm sure there's a bar or some other space I could find.

Okay, can't wait to hear!
