2  Le Slouche Beret in Knitting: Completed Projects by Crafty_Witch15 on: October 30, 2007 03:05:14 PM
let me just say this in an amazing pattern! I was looking for a nice beret pattern and I discovered this little gem. It was a really quick, instant gratification knit that accompanied me on the bus and will show up in several other colours as holiday gifts! I love seed stitch, so I didn't want to kill myself though if you hate seed stitch this pattern also looks good in stockinette (because I browsed through other peoples FO's on Ravelry Cheesy)

*here's the pattern*:

p.s. I haven't posted in a while, it's nice to be back after the summer!!

3  Azalea dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Crafty_Witch15 on: July 03, 2007 08:20:44 PM
For those that have discovered the Burda Style website, this is one of their latest patterns. I fell in love and went straight out to Value Village to pick up some old bedsheets to make one.

I was lucky enough to find not only an amazing pale yellow bed sheet with white polka-dots similar to a dress I have, but I found some nice blue fabric with a flower print. Now, the fabric is polyester, but the sheet is cotton so it's actually a very comfortable dress. It's nice and airy, and fits perfectly. I highly reccomend this pattern, and the Burda Style website with many more great patterns!

My mom took this picture, I had to catch a little bit of the sun before it went down!

4  Lilac summer hoodie in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Crafty_Witch15 on: June 21, 2007 11:36:45 AM
Yet again Wendy Mullin came out with more fantastic patterns! Her two latest patterns included an awsome hoodie I had to try. It appealed to me because of its big loose sleeves and it generally looked cooler than any plain hoodies I had in my closet. I searched around until my local fabric store had the pattern in, and found some great sweatshirt fabric on sale! I got the 2 meters called for in the pattern for under $10! The total cost of this project was just over $20, and it's toally worth it!!!

The hardest part was threading the ribbon through the hood because I could only find really small or really big grommets and opted for the small ones, however a safety pin wouldn't go through them. Other than that the pattern was a sinch, only took me a few hours last night inbetween dance ect. I want to make another one out of lighter fabric to wear in the summer when it gets hotter, but now as the weather is "unsettled" as the wether girl puts it, I can still wear my new hoodie.

These are probably the best photos I've ever taken on a self timer!

Sorry for the pouty looks, it was starting to rain  Cheesy Thanks for looking, I can't wait to see more of this great hoodie!!

anyone found these patterns in stores yet?? I desperatly want to make the hoodie and want to make it NOW. If it's going to take a few weeks for them to be in stores I'm better off ordering online. UG!

p.s. I'm in Canada, if that makes a difference. They don't seem to be on the Canadian Simplicity website, but I'm willing to go for a shopping trip to the US for patterns  Cheesy

Don't know what part of the US you're headed to, but the patterns are in both Joann and Hancock stores in Seattle.  I got the hoodie at a Joann last weekend (6/16).

oh that sounds hopeful! I would be heading down to Bellingham or possibly Mount Vernon, so they should be out I guess? I might just phone the stores and make sure, but I can't wait for the weekend!!!

edit: well..........I decided to phone around to local stores just in case, and somehow between sunday and today they got the pattern in! I was so excited, I found this lovely pinky-purple sweatshirt fabric on sale and love it already. I'll probably be done tomorrow (great distractor from studying) but couldn't resist a before shot of the fabric:

6  ikea mirror in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Crafty_Witch15 on: June 10, 2007 07:25:00 PM
who doesn't love a trip to ikea? on my last visit I picked up one of those plain $3 mirrors and jazzed it up a bit. I started with a coat of white paint, followed by gold paint sponged on, and finally some pictures I glued on. It's really simple, and all just came together, but I love it and it goes perfectly with my room.

well I finally have some FO pictures! I finnished it last night while watching A.I. Artificial Intelligence. I'm really happy with how it turned out!

I have yet to block it, but I will because how I applied the icord pulls a bit so I'll straighten that out. then there will be more pictures of me wearing it (it's sunday morning and Im still in my jammies yo!). I can't wait for the weather to be sunny so I can run around in a dress and this cardigan!!

detail of the sleeve, you can kind see where it's gathered a bit
the leaf ties, seem a bit big but when I wear it I'm sure it will be fine
my favorit details, the shoulder increases and icord trim

8  Re: Built by Karen **new project pictures added** in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Crafty_Witch15 on: June 04, 2007 05:06:00 PM
even more updates now. I made a dress and tunic from 3964. The dress is very lose, and I originally didn't want the tie but feel it makes the dress look better if I appear to have some shape. I might try this one size smaller still (even though I already make one size down from my usual pattern size) and see if it looks ok. the tunic however, works because of the elastic at the bottom. I love both of them, and will be making more in as many different fabrics as I can.

this is the only picture I have of the dress, which is hard to see but it's white with big pink flowers. me and my friend were shopping and I decided to stop traffic for this picture because the cherry blossoms looked so good with my dress. then I had to spoil it by blinking!
so very comfy! but incredibly warm, so it's reserved for cooler summer days and the fall with a pair of leggings.

I just started Leaf yesterday! I fell in love, and once I looked at all the other great knits from this book on flickr, I've decided I need the book ASAP. I plan on knitting the puff sleeved cardigan once I get the book, and from there who knows!

Here's my progress so far:

10  Crafty Tool Belt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Crafty_Witch15 on: May 05, 2007 06:32:56 PM
I finally got around to making that tool belt from Tease, a t-shirt re-con book. I wanted to make it since I got the book. I'm using it in my HS sewing class and it's actually useful for holding my scissors and pins while I run around from the cutting table to my sewing machine to the iron ect........

In the book it's supposed to be a gardening tool belt, so really it could be used for anything! You never know when you might need something on hand that doesn't fit in your pocket!
