1  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Re: Steampunk gun on: October 14, 2009 12:49:15 PM
I did this for my costume last year for halloween! I love the way yours turned out!

I found some antique TV tubes on ebay for like 5$ and attached them to the top.. really gave it a mad scientist feel!

2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: cigarette box ideas? on: October 14, 2009 09:42:14 AM
I glued a grid of them to a piece of wood and then primed and used them as a sort of canvas?

I have about 300 of these and I'm really trying to figure out what to do with them also...

That is art, friend. (Is it weird to think that last photo is beautiful?)

No. I love the way it turned out in the end. Almost the complete opposite from the beginning.

woah! this is awesome! and you used nail polish?! that must have taken serious patience. but wait isnt nail polish pretty flamable? wait, maybe not, i could be totally wrong on that one......

Yeah... I kind of thought about that afterward, but at the number of smokers out there I'm sure plenty of them wear nail polish so I wasn't too worried.
8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Pinball Machine made to be destroyed. on: October 13, 2009 09:21:12 PM
This piece is about movement and was inspired by the book Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk and is entitled Constructive Deconstruction. I made the pinball table out of wood, and springs. The obstacles are made out of eggs, glass, and tissues. I made the doors at the top from wood, syringe tips and Plexiglas. I also had baggies filled with oil in the doors.

This piece is about destruction.. the more you play the game, the more you destroy it. The motor oil at the end tarnishes this to the point you would never be able to use it again. This can be interpreted many different ways and I encourage you to come away with your own conclusions.

Me playing it. As you can see, the lights really lit up!

The final product.

I invited everyone in attendance at the opening to 'play' the game.

I loved seeing the reactions, most were so scared to really hurt it yet some were anxious to really break things!

Enjoy.

They are GREAT for storing paint.. if you mix a great color you can store it in these to use for later!

This is a neat idea. I've seen lots of sculptures and textures made of these tiny things!
