1  Miniature lace top hats in Machine Embroidery: Completed Projects by lady.lin on: June 18, 2011 12:10:36 PM
Okay, I posted this over in the Machine Embroidery board, but it's also appropriate here... and this place is a lot more active.  Tongue

On the right is a hat done in white thread with a black lace band, vintage button, and pheasant feathers.

On the left is a hat done in metallic gold thread with a garnet & freshwater pearl band, gold-plated chain with real watch bits as charms and accents. I'd estimate this one took somewhere between 8 - 10 hours.

These were made with the Lace Top Hat design from Urban Threads: http://www.urbanthreads.com/product_details?product_id=3365

I'm just gonna leave this here.

... Okay, they're not the prettiest things in the world, but they are damn tasty!

4  Re: Show me your sewing room setup! in Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions by lady.lin on: August 11, 2010 03:14:18 PM
Oh drat! I'm moving at the end of this month - and then moving AGAIN mid-November! If this thread is still kicking around by December, I'll post pictures. :-D

However... this is where I used to sew:

It looks horrible! I know! I live in a cottage behind a bigger house. A friend in that house set up her sewing room, but also uses it for storage... I got tired of having to move all her stuff around just to work, so I brought all my stuff down into my little cottage. It's cramped, but it works. (And I don't have anyone but myself and the cat to blame for messes.)

Here's a shot of the bottom:

I just sewed two teardrop-style metal hairclips to the underside. Last time I wore this, I was out on my bike, so I used a couple of bobby pins too, just as backups.

6  Another mini lace top hat! in Machine Embroidery: Completed Projects by lady.lin on: August 04, 2010 12:28:07 AM

I sent the last one off as a wedding gift to a friend, and had stitched out a couple of the pieces for this one already... so I finished it. I think it turned out quite well, despite a couple of weird hiccups my machine had at the edges of one of the brim pieces and the edge of the crown. The flaws aren't very noticable, though.

7  Tiny Lace Top Hat in Machine Embroidery: Completed Projects by lady.lin on: July 03, 2010 01:07:28 AM
I love UrbanThreads. Loved 'em long before I got an embroidery machine and downloaded all their freebies "just in case" I ever got an embroidery machine. Well, I did. And after working with it enough to be comfortable, I finally got the one thing at UT I really, REALLY wanted...

The lace top hat design.

I made this for a friend's wedding gift. It's finished off with red velvet ribbon, a fashion buckle, and two vintage rhinestone buttons.

I love it so much, I'll be making many more; the next two will be brown and purple!

8  Jeans + Neckties = Awesome in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lady.lin on: May 20, 2010 07:30:00 PM

I've had so many compliments on these jeans, I can't believe it. Already made a pair for my roomie, and one pair from black designer jeans with hot pink plaid. (They're pretty eye-catching.)
