holy crudoly a lot goes on when you're gone a day or two! finals burned me out so bad i spent the majority of the last three days sleeping. hoping on getting some crafty time in tonight, after i clean up the mess my cat made by knocking my spice plants over. (seriously, if she wasn't so cute and lovey, i doubt i'd put up with her).
3  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Beginners inchie (and an ATC) swap round 2 - SU until 15th May. SO 6th June on: May 12, 2011 12:20:51 PM
I'm kind of impatient for the 15th to come!
I've been making some backgrounds lately in anticipation.  Smiley

i misread this the first time and thought it said "in antici-" then went looking around for the "pation" ! (reference, anyone? rocky horror picture show?)

anyway, tried my first background last night, epic fail. totally went out and bought some watercolors.

as for atc's or inchies, i've only done scrapbooking before... the inchies kinda freak me out a bit, they're SO small i have no idea how i'm actually going to create, you know, "good" art on there!

I'm definitely nervous about making my first inchies and i'm totally strung out from finals, so I might try to get in a practice round today to give myself a little break!

For those who've tried their hand, do you prefer to make them one at a time or in a group?

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Ravelry Bonita Hat on: May 01, 2011 09:05:06 PM
i felt the same way at first. mechanically, it's annoying as heck but pretty manageable. i was surprised myself!
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: interesting/hilarious vintage knitting patterns... on: April 26, 2011 07:29:06 PM

8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Ravelry Bonita Hat on: April 26, 2011 12:38:29 PM
hey all, this is my first foray into a crochet-knit combo hat, but since it's 90% crochet, i'm going to post it here instead of over there.

this is the bonita hat from ravelry, i used one skein of vanna's choice in autumn print, and i did a couple of pattern modifications.

i did one round smaller and shorter than the pattern indicated, and i followed other raveler's pattern corrections (there are a few minor errata). also, instead of doing the crochet band, i picked up 80 stitches around the edge (should do 84 next time) and did knit 2, purl 2 ribbing.

i'd love to show you a picture of it on, but it's exceedingly hard to take a picture of the back of your own head!

thanks for looking, c&c welcome!
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: April 2011 Birthday Swap - Gallery and Discussion on: April 26, 2011 12:27:35 PM
yay! i got my birthday package from puzzler! she sent not one, but three knitting needle holders, which is good because right now they're completely randomly out of control.

this one's for DPN's

and for straights

and for circulars!

thank you thank you!
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / interesting/hilarious vintage knitting patterns... on: April 26, 2011 12:24:56 PM
... found in a thrift store for a grand total of $1.50. the mens one is from the 50's, the columbia one ranks late 60's, and the sweater pamphlet on the bottom is 80's.

my favorite is the men's one on the left: "men's classics Choose-O-Matic makes it easy to customize your look!"

if i ever knit anything from these i'll be sure to post it. anyone ever found crazy vintage stuff?
