I know we can all agree on the idea that "handmade is better!" Sometimes it gets tricky to show the love out in the world though. So I was thinking that having a cuff, or a stencilled t-shirt, or a little change purse with our favourite slogan on it would be fun. Anyone else want something with the Craftster credo on it?

For some reason, being outdoors all summer always leads me to a massive Ani listening binge. Which was the inspiration for this swap. I'm thinking OTT based on your favourite Ani song lyrics. Anyone think this sounds like fun? I'd say a month of crafting time, with a late August/early September send-out.

Do you like the strange and wonderful creations of Yohji Yamamoto and Comme Des Garcons? Is black the new black? Have you got mad tailoring skills you want to share?

What I have in mind is a swap based on the truly weird designs of the Japanese avant garde... one large with about 2 months of crafting time. Any takers?

I've been meaning to post these for a while. In the interest of crossing things off my to-do list, I present for your amusement the pair of floating heads that have been floating around the studio for about a year. They are part of a series that isn't finished (giant graffiti paintings got in the way).

Things are thawing out here in the Great White North, and a young environmentalist/humanist/peacenik's heart turns to thoughts of ... protest season! The G20 summit is fast approaching, organizers are planning a massive demonstration, and we all have a part to play. Whether you choose to be a Radical Cheerleader in a cute outfit, waving pom poms and chanting anti-capitalist slogans, a Food Not Bombs volunteer providing yummy vegan meals, a medic helping the dehydrated, hurt and pepper-sprayed, a Black Bloc anarchist involved in direct action tactics, a hippie drummer keeping up morale with happy music for dancing, or a church group member carrying a sign that tells the corporate raiders you don't think Jesus would steal, pollute and bomb the world, the movement needs your voice. Not everyone can come to Toronto in June (but if you do, you're welcome at my place!), but everyone can do something at home.

This swap would be about protest tools, from black hoodies and decorated gas masks for the Bloc, cheerleader outfits and first -aid kits with the tools to deal with pepper spray/tear gas for the people in the street to mail action kits for folks further away.

Haven't the banks and big corporations taken enough from us already?

Practical details: sign-ups til March 31, with send-outs 2nd week of May?

My friend wanted a new hat for a party we were going to. A week later, this is what I came up with. She wanted flowers and a veil, and for it to be perched as opposed to traditionally fitting. I think it came out okay. You can't tell at all from these pictures, but i made the brim larger in the back so it actually curls up around the flowers like a little frame.  Hope you like it!

And here is what I made from mystery fabric I found at a thrift store. It's definitely a poly blend of some sort, though it's not as shiny in person as it is in the pic. I stink at photography...

This is one of my new projects. I'm getting underway with 50 projects this year, so... I think I'll revisit this later. There's a couple of kinks. May y'all can help me iron them out. Thanks for lookin'!
