My gallery for groups 3 and 5! Some of the photos aren't the best in terms of color - they look darker and have a warmer tone than in reality.
GROUP 3 Melladh - deep northern blues and greens
Pieced Star - my first attempt at paper piecing - it was an experience!
sloth003 - Paintbox I love doing these! Matching up the fabrics is so much fun
donniesgirl - Wee Scotty I think I'm going to put a couple of these on the ends of a runner with the Christmas Scotty fabric you'll see farther down
EnginerdLisa - Garden Fence in greens
GROUP 5 carolmb - pinwheels and stars in brights
donniesgirl - raw edge circles in red and green These were so much fun to match up and so quick and easy! Extras for our wonderful organizer who also stepped into our group when we lost a member early on
How cool that I had a Christmas Scotty!
Uncut group and group after going into the blender
kbrison - stars in blue and yellow These are MUCH brighter in real life!
alwaysinmyroom - Party Hats in red, white and blue The first one of these I sewed came out small - I think I'm going to put it into a runner with the two more solid Modern Strings Carolmb sent me.
103 different fabrics plus solid white and only one duplicate because I goofed and used the same yellow in two of kbrison's blocks.
Once I got past my woeful feeling of inadequacy this was a blast!
Okay, I received REALLY early from the wonderful Makaylalee but I'm just now getting around to posting pics
Here are my goodies all unwrapped! I didn't take a solo picture but I love the black cat hoopla!
Here's a closeup of the four clay pieces: a pumpkin magnet, owl magnet, adorable black cat pin and the most AMAZING phoenix pin. The photo doesn't do justice but it is all metallic clays and beautiful! You couldn't have known but the phoenix has history with my husband and myself
The most ADORABLE black witch cat amigurumi. I've never learned to crochet so this is extra-special
The card was just awesome - this was actually one of my favorite things! (outside and inner tags are thumbnails)
And the last item that didn't make it into any group pictures - the cutest bow for my princess! It went from the box straight into her hair
Sorry to be so pic heavy but I loved it all - thanks Makaylalee!
OK - here are the AMAZING packages I received from squire_inaria and tearE
First up is squire_inaria
WOW! I love them all! Two lovely rainbow FQ's that will probably make their way into a project for my oldest DD, pirate skulls, blue/yellow flames that make me think of lucha masks, sparkly blue snowflakes and sparkly orange swirls that I just LOVE (and that the photo does NOT do justice), awesome Zodiac FQ (folded to show my sign - Gemini ), and the most beautiful roses in urns that makes me think of Dia de los Muertos. Thanks so much squire_inaria - I LOVE them all
And from tearE
You must be psychic, tearE, because my fabrics are just so PERFECT!!!! Cute teal ovals, lovely blue diamonds (I have this fabric in pink and green but not blue), adorable spools, and then it gets crazy/awesome. Purple is my favorite color so the big purple floral is great, then a vintage purple and paisley (another love) together, then comes the purple with fairies and mushrooms (yep, love fairies, too, and I'll get to the mushrooms in a minute), being a redhead I love anything Celtic and just LOOK at that shamrock batik !, and finally, get a load of that vintage mushroom fabric. That one made me "sqee" when I saw it. My grandmother (who I was closer to than anyone else) loved mushrooms and her house was FULL of this type of vintagey mushroom stuff; canisters and dishes and towels and teapots, etc. I have some vintage mushroom dish towels waiting for a special project and I think this fabric will have to join them!!!! Thank you so much, tearE
All I can say is: BEST.SWAP.EVER. We've gotta do this one again!
I also participated in the Matchbox Swap and also received a Day of the Dead themed box. My partner was Microjivvy, you've probably caught some of her tiny creations in the Featured Projects section. Well she went CARAAAAZZYYY with the theme and I know you guys will love it!
Totally awesome!!! Major jealousness here . . .
So after a major shopping expedition to BOTH Michaels and Joann's today bits and pieces of random ideas are coalescing in my brain - now to start crafting!!!
Hi all - Sorry for the delay in posting these . I previously posted pics of the wonderful squares I received from tiamatfire, now here are some favorites from my remaining two sets from giddiup222 and our wonderful organizer, nilmerg!
First from nilmerg:
peeping kitty, cows, bugs, awesome vintage looking shaped clocks and vintage phones, beautiful pansy, mushrooms, frogs (one of my favorite things!) and purple flowers.
Also the most AMAZING squares showing Australian scenes, koalas, adorable vintage looking animals, aliens, and sweet little fairies.
Now from giddiup222:
flannel sheep, monkeys and frog prince, ADORABLE vintage looking animals, Buzz Lightyear and sparkly ballerinas.
Also sweet birdies, sewing collage, horses, money, wine corks, conversation hearts and a royal flush.
Thanks to all my partners for the WONDERFUL squares you sent. This has been an awesome swap .
I was out of town for a class reunion and when I arrived back home today I had fabric from tiamatfire waiting in my mailbox!!!! She sent a lot of lovely fabrics and three small crocheted makeup removers as extras!
These are some of my favorites - the beautiful geisha girls, oriental medallions, Wizard of Oz!, penguins and lovely red birds. The blue one is Inukshuk from the 2010 Vancouver winter Olympic Games. The next photo has mushrooms, owls,Paris cat, Strawberry Shortcake and the extras.
Thanks so much tiamatfire - I love them!!!!!
And here is a teaser for my partners . . . I have finished trimming down the piles for Sajona and Giddiup222 and just have to finish the massive pile for Nilmerg . . . lots of squares . . .
Wow, every time I look at this gallery, I'm more and more impressed! I've been searching for my camera cord for the better part of a week now so I can post pictures of what LauPre sent, but I can't find it anywhere. Here's the best I could do with my computer's camera, the picture doesn't do it justice, though:
It's a pouch with a beautiful embroidered thistle on the front. She lined it with the same material so you can't see the back of the embroidery. The little white thing is a thistle stamp she made. I can't believe it's her first time making a stamp, I think it turned out great! Thank you, LauPre, for my wonderful things!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LVOE this!!!!
