1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / bag for a friend on: August 23, 2010 06:08:36 AM
Hi there,

this would have been something for the recycling challenge, but too late... Roll Eyes

Nevertheless, here it is, my super recycled messenger bag, which I gave to a friend as a birthday present. It is made of an advertising tarp (don't know if this is the right word for it), and I used this tutorial: http://mmmcrafts.blogspot.com/2009/06/basic-messenger-bag.html

this is the tarp

and this is the finished bag:

inside with zipper:

and again the whole thing from the top

btw it was awful to work with such a stiff material, but I'm happy with the result and it was the perfect birthday present for my friend who loves soccer...

thanks for looking!

and now I'm hopefully in the right board... (reconstructed... Roll Eyes )

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / "weekend sewing" tote on: January 15, 2010 06:42:16 AM
hello!
these are my first attempts on sewing bags. the pattern is from heather ross "weekend sewing", but i put a zipper in it. the tote in denim was the "prototype" as you may see on all the loose threads hanging around (also the first time i was sewing with denim - three needles broke!), the violet one was a christmas present for my mum - it turned out very well, no threads hanging out, but if you take a close look, you will see, that one handle is twisted. Embarrassed my mum liked it nevertheless...
oh, and if you plan to make this tote, don't skip the inside-pocket as i did on my denim one - it takes ages to find your cellphone without the extrapocket!

hello everybody! craftster inspired me to start to learn how to sew, I bought some books, took Mum's sewing machine and after nearly one year finally.... here is my first post:

first dress I made from Wendy Mullin's "Sew U Home Stretch":

(sorry, picture is a little bit dark...)

If you browse my gallery (click on the thumbnails!), you will also find another dress, a sweater (both from Sew U Home Stretch, patterns slightly changed), yoga pants (from Burda 7/2009), a shirt with reverse applique (inspired by this post: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=228970.0 ) and... ACTION Pics of the yoga pants
