1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Advanced & Awesome Accessories Challenge! Enter Dec 31 - Jan 7 2011 on: December 25, 2010 09:06:45 PM
I might enter this... The "in-laws" gave my daughter a sweater for Christmas and, after examining it, I realized I could have made it easily. So I'm thinking about making a scarf inspired by her sweater. Smiley Of course, the scarf wouldn't be for her... She's only 2 months, so I'm definitely weary of dangling things around her neck. :O

Hopefully I can get it done in time! Cheesy
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / chemo caps vs. slouchy hats? on: September 26, 2010 02:00:40 PM
Hi. This past Wednesday my grandmother found out she has cancer and has been instructed to start chemotherapy as soon as possible. I'd like to make a ton of cute hats for her to wear as fall is just around the corner (not sure if it's fall, but it certainly doesn't feel like it here yet.)

Anyways, I was wondering if there was a certain reason chemo caps were called chemo caps? And if they're any better for cancer patients than any other hat? My grandmother and I have similar tastes, and I don't like the way chemo caps look. I'm more into slouchy or cabled hats. So, is there really any difference? Does the hat have to fit tight? Does it make the hat warmer? Or is a hat a hat, regardless of what it's called?

Thank you so much in advance.
3  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Cookie A KAL? on: August 26, 2010 03:12:51 PM
I think I'll join. Smiley I've been wanting to do Cookie A's Baudelaire, and the Pomatomus looks like good practice for Iron Knitter. Tongue
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: twinkle by Wenlan vest on: August 26, 2010 01:56:29 PM
Are you looking to knit it, or are you looking to buy it? If knitting, it looks kinda like the Baggy Bolero by Pickles. You'd just have to tweak the pattern a bit, ie. add the different techniques & increase to waaaay more than 216. Maybe two-three times that much?

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / knitted baby shower gifts? on: August 26, 2010 01:50:50 PM
strapped for cash at the moment and my baby shower is next Saturday. I was wondering what you all would enjoy receiving as gifts for a baby shower... I don't want to make dishclothes, because I know I wouldn't really appreciate it. I know it's the thought that counts and all, but I fail to see how wash rags are particularly thoughtful... No offense to those of you who WOULD like to receive one. Just not my cup of tea...

SO! Do you know of any cute little patterns? Maybe easy hat patterns, or cute little toys?

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: how to use a stitch marker on dpns? on: February 02, 2010 11:09:37 AM
lmao I feel so blond right now. So then the marker would be the beginning of my round, and it'd be just that simple... Wahaha, I'm an idiot sometimes. Tongue

Thank you, soozeq. Smiley
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / how to use a stitch marker on dpns? on: February 01, 2010 07:43:15 PM
I really don't know how to do this, so usually I just count carefully, or look for the tail from my slip knot. Whenever I try to, I usually just put it between the first and second stitch, but that can get confusing and I was wondering if there's an easier way?
