Book of Shadows Swap - Round 3! Send by Monday, June 17
Many of us who follow a path of Wiccan or Pagan path keep a Book of Shadows - a personal compilation of spells, charms, recipes, instructions and other witchy information. If you already have a Book of Shadows and want to add to it, or you have been meaning to start one, this swap is for you!
This will be a swap for one large item and some small extras. The large can be a hand-bound blank book or binder if your partner doesn't have a book yet, or a set of completed and decorated pages that your partner can add to an existing book. Extras (which everyone always likes!) can include things like rubber stamps, stencils, blank paper, pens, ink, pressed leaves and flowers, bookplates, ephemera or anything else you think would enhance your partners book. Packages can be kept thin, so postage need not be problematic even overseas. This is a chance to learn from others and share what you know, so first-time swappers and newcomers to the path are welcome!
Matching your partner's style and needs is an important part of this swap, so communication is an essential requirement throughout. As well, you should be willing to post in the swap thread at least once a week to keep in touch. Remember that you are creating something that your partner will probably keep for years to come, so this is a chance to show off your best work.
Send this questionnaire to Wulf to join: Name of swap: Book of Shadows Round 3 Craftster username: Email address: Your real name: Mailing address including the country: Would you be willing to ship to an address outside your own country? Confirm that are at least 16 years old: (YES/NO) Are you able and willing to post photos of the package you receive?
How do you describe your current religion/spirituality/tradition/magical practice? Do you consider yourself a newcomer or have you been on this path for a long time? Are you out of the broom closet (do your friends/family know you are Wiccan/Pagan/whatever)? Are there any gods, deities, spirits, saints etc. that are especially important to you? Are you okay with tasteful nudity in art (depictions of the God and Goddess, etc.)?
Do you already have a Book of Shadows? If so, describe it (page size, binding type, style, etc.): If not, do you want to start with a blank book that you can write in, loose blank pages, or finished pages of material you can add to your book later? Do you want your BoS to be wide-ranging, or to focus on one particular thing, such as herbs, astrology, spellcraft, deities, etc.? Do you have a specific set of pages that you'd like to have? Is there a certain style that you like or dislike? Are there any particular extras that you'd like to have? Is there anything you do NOT want?
Do you have favorite colors, stones, herbs, etc? Would you be willing to learn about and craft for someone else's traditions that may be different from your own? Is there anything you wouldn't be willing to craft for because of your beliefs? Do you have any allergies or aversions to anything? Are you okay with leather, feathers and other non-vegan materials? What allergens are in your environment?
Can you do bookbinding, or would you like to stick to creating loose pages? What kind of art media do you like to work in? (painting, drawing, digital, calligraphy, collage, etc.) What kinds of art do you NOT do?
Anything else you would like your partner to know about yourself and your Book of Shadows?

The festival of Yule marks the lowest point on the Wheel of the Year. The days have been growing shorter until the night has triumphed over daylight, winter weather is truly here now, and much of the plant and animal world has died or withdrawn from view. But we greet the Winter Solstice not with gloom and dread but with celebration! It is a time of parties, feasts, family gatherings, colourful lights and decorations, music and above all, the sharing of presents. As we exchange presents with family and friends, let's also share handmade gifts among our WWP family.
For this swap, send your partner a handmade, gift-wrapped present to be opened on Yule (December 21st). This is a substantial swap, so your package should contain at least one large item, or two medium items, a medium and two small items, or three or more small items. You may also include other items (made or purchased) for your partner's children or other family members if you like, but you should discuss it with your partner first.
To participate, complete this questionnaire, and PM it to the organizer, Wulf. Participants must post in the swap thread at least once a week, and maintain regular communication with their partners. Sharing the package you've received with everyone else is an important part of swapping, please post photos in the Swap Gallery. If you won't be able to for some reason, be sure to let your partner know early so they can take photos before sending. The beginning of August marks the middle of Summer. The sun is at its hottest, but the days are getting noticeably shorter and winter is making its presence felt on the horizon. Lammas, Lughnassad or Lugh is one of the ancient cross-quarter festivals of Celtic Europe, honouring the first harvest, of grain, vegetables and early fruits. In the southern hemisphere, Winter is turning the corner at Imbolc and the promise of Spring is finally before us.
Let's have a swap to celebrate the glory of summer, the beauty of the Sun God and the bounty of the Goddess. This will be a mid-sized swap, consisting of one medium or two small handcrafted items, and whatever extras you and your partner want to exchange.
To participate, complete this questionnaire, and PM it to the organizer, Wulf. One of the most ancient seasonal festivals is the Summer Solstice, celebrated around the world as Midsummer, Litha, St. John's Day, Alban Heruin, Ukon juhla, Festa Junina, Ivan Kupala Day, and by many other names. The astronomical solstice is June 21st, but June 24h is the traditional date in many places.
Let's celebrate this longest, brightest day of the year with a fun, quick envelope chain swap. Put something honouring the season into an envelope and send it to someone else. It's as simple as that. It can be a card, photo, ATC, recipe, spell, ritual, poem, drawing, or anything else, as long as it fits into a letter-size envelope at the letter postal rate. You can include more than one item, but at least one must be hand-crafted. But however much you put in that envelope, it must not require extra postage!
This is a chain swap - each participant will send to a different person, rather than in pairs. Since what you send is about what the Summer Solstice means to YOU, you don't need to wait until you know who your partner is to begin crafting. I'll PM you with your partner's info on the 16th, and you will need to send by the 20th of June. As this is an envelope-sized paper swap, no delivery confirmation number is required, but if your envelope goes missing, you must be prepared to send a replacement.
To participate in this fun, quick swap for Pagans, Witches and their friends, PM me with this questionnaire. If you aren't sure if you qualify to participate in a swap, or you need to review the rules, read http://www.craftster.org/swapsinfo.html. Need an Angel to craft some Pagan/Wiccan springtime goodies for Monnie31, whose partner isn't going to be able to finish the swap. This is a 4-point swap, and Monnie is famous for the bottomless swap packages she sends (and she says this one was large even by her standards ), so you should be willing to craft more than just the bare minimum.
Monnie is in Canada, so a Canadian angel would be wonderful, but you will have to mail to Canada.

The Spring Equinox, when the day and night are the same length, has been observed as a sacred festival for thousands of years. This is the true return of the Sun promised by Imbolc six weeks earlier, the first signs of new life returning to the Earth. As Christianity spread throughout Europe, it kept many of the Pagan symbols of the season, such as eggs, lambs, and decorated breads, and others that weren't officially adopted by the new religion stayed on in folk culture. Both Christianity and modern Paganism have named this festival after the Goddess Eóstre or Ostara.
Many familiar Easter traditions have their origins in the ancient pre-Christian festival, and Wiccans and modern Pagans have brought new and reconstructed rituals and symbols to our observance of Ostara. In this swap, we're going to craft items for each other that reflect the traditions of Ostara, both ancient and modern. What favourite Easter traditions that you have adapted to Ostara? What new images and ideas would you like to add to your partner's seasonal practice?
This will be a 4 point swap, with each participant creating a package that adds up to the equivalent of 4 points according to these guidelines:
By Points: Large=3 points Medium=2 points Small= 1 point
By Time -Large = 4 or more hours -Medium = 2 or more hours -Small = less than 2 hours
By Size -Large = A shawl, a shirt, a skirt, a set of jewelry with four to five items, a purse -Medium = one single necklace or bracelet, a scarf -Small = Earrings, stickers, wallets, pouches, bookmarks
By Price -Large = $30 or more -Medium = $10-$30 dollars -Small = $10 or less
PM me (Wulf) with this completed questionnaire to join the swap. Remember that good communication, both with your partner and the group, is essential to the success of a swap. So be sure to post regularly to the forum and stay in contact with me and your partner, especially if you're having any sort of trouble during the swap period. When you mail your package, be sure to get a Delivery Confirmation or Tracking number, and PM me and your partner both when you send your package and when you receive your partner's package. It's a good idea to take photographs of your crafts before you mail them (just in case), and please post photos of the crafts you receive.
