I'm doing a lot of work on the unbound signatures too, before I bind it up this weekend. It's just a lot easier because you can have several of them on the go at once, without having to wait for one page to dry before moving on to another.

This is great! I'm a big Holmes fan, and this is something I would have in my library for sure! I've never thought of cutting whiteboard into interesting shapes, but it's a brilliant idea. There was a 4x8 ft panel of it hanging around at work for several years before it finally got thrown out this spring. Nobody wanted it, but they sure would have if I'd made it into fun shapes!

I am bringing along my crocheting and my sewing machine in the car with me so I don't go crazy once we finally get to the east coast waiting for permanent housing and out things to arrive.

I'm picturing you squeezed into the back seat of a car packed with belongings, sewing your way across the country! Good luck with your move and be sure to let us know when you've settled in safe and sound.

Ooooh! I can smell it just from the picture! It's such a good thing I didn't have a heat gun when I was 8 years old.

Wait a minute - are those really octopus doggie treats? Could such a thing actually exist?

Of course you're well situated for over-cute Japanese stuff, Suereal. Vancouver is where the container ships of cutneness are unloaded!

Oh, thanks a lot, IsikkahJai - now I'll have "Mister Roboto" running through my head all morning!

I love the idea of Edel's  Armes de France journal! But I might be tempted to eat the pages instead of write on them! Grin

I bought a stack of old magazines and a big folder of even older clippings at yard sales today, and I'm willing to bet some of it is going to end up in this journal.

Working on my cover, which has multiple components...

Oooh! I don't even know what that means, but I like it! And thanks everybody for the great new links. Interesting new ideas there.

I haven't had too much to say in this Gallery, but the stuff is great! I love the hamsa hand and the eye bead, Saturn. No danger of the Evil Eye in Fullmoon's room! And your calligraphy is lovely, too. The Wiccan Rede is a lo-o-ong text to letter so carefully!

What? sale? paper? where? did you leave any for me?

There was lots left last week, so you're probably still in luck. It was from Aboveground Art Supplies on McCaul St.: acid-free bristol stock for only $0.50 a sheet. (Don't tell EdelC - I want her to think I spent a lot of money on her journal! Wink ) Their stock number for it was 511. Lovely stuff - if I'm back in the neighbourhood I may get more for myself.

As for curling pages, it's really a problem built into the paper, so there's not a lot you can do after the fact. Pressing or ironing will flatten them out for now, but humidity will probably cause them to curl again. One thing that does help is to paint gesso or acrylic on one side. It's usually the inside of the curl, but do a test to find out.

I know you've already cut your pages, but the way bookbinders deal with the problem is to rotate the paper 90 degrees so the curl of the paper is perpendicular to the spine of the book. That way the binding itself prevents the pages from curling.

Got to go look at some journalling links now - need new ideas!
