Wow, these first few shrines couldn't be more different, could they? I love the variety!
I received from StudioANF yesterday, after a bit of a struggle with UPS. American swap partners, please take note: DON'T USE UPS TO SHIP TO CANADA! I know it works well down there, but on this side of the border they're nothing but trouble. In this case, for example, they charged a $30 brokerage fee to collect $2.23 sales tax - which shouldn't have been due anyway, as it was clearly marked as a gift. And they were going to charge it twice
but fortunately Nichole had warned me that she'd already paid it. Grrrr!!
Anyhow, after all that I did get a whole box
of shrines! I said that I didn't have room for a large shrine, so instead she sent three small ones.
The first one is a specimen under a bell jar on a lamp fixture, surrounded by bright green moss and flowers.
But what is it a specimen of, you ask? A rare Steampunk butterfly, of course!
And it's surrounded by these delicate handmade flowers:
The second shrine is another butterfly:
And look at her clever use of a butterfly clip
to make the stand at the back:
Shrine Number 3 is a little book that opens up to reveal an Altoids tin shrine!
I love the 3-D Tarot card, and the wax seal on the other side. (There's another on the cover of the book.)
But wait, there's more!
The extras included one of her beautiful watercolour paintings...
...this tiny, tiny
blue dragon in a bottle, and a handful of skull beads.
I love all these! And I'm so glad I put a little extra effort into the shrine I sent, or I'd be feeling a bit inadequate!
